21st Century Toys 1:32 Information Q&A (Area-21 Pres)
My opinion on the 262 is that you're not going to see a newer mold for it. It's one of the first 1/32 molds, so it's alot more toylike (but also sturdier) and simple in certain ways. If you don't like the bombs, they can be a turnoff. Also, the cockpit and rockets are rather simplistic. This being said, I think the more recent paint schemes have really made this plane look nice, and the surface details seem crisp still (lots of rivets and opening gun bays). I picked up White 5 and was pleasantly pleased with it...

Thanks for the opinion nooker21! The 262 at TRU in person is very hard to resist. That paint job is spectacular. However I am slowly beginning to see how dated it looks.
TKO,
Since 21st is making a new 262 which is on the way in 1/18, followed up by a 262 2 seater, will those be scaled down to 1/32? If they are, I will wait for those and skip the current 262@TRU

Shin's wishlist for 1/18 and 1/32 with retractable landing gear and more:
F-14 Tomcat, F-8 Crusader, A-4 Skyhawk, F-105 Thunderchief, A-6 Intruder, F-15C, F-15E Strike Eagle

I saw a couple of the Shangri La's at my local TRU and they look very nice. If they are still around this weekend I may pick one up to go along with my 1/18th Ridge Runner 51'. I would love to see more 1/32nd 4th FG P-51's get done along with some 357th birds as well but thats just me.

Hey TKO, please update us on the 144 scale stuff. I'm particularly interested in armor. Right now, I think your biggest sellers would be:
M10 tank destroyer that you could returret as an M36
Opel Blitz
German Wespe spg
Churchill - no British armor has been made yet in plastic in this scale - so this should sell really well.
M3/5 Stuart
Also consider US trucks, Pershing, Cromwell, T-34s, as well as arty and infantry!
Some collectors have found some of your pieces to be slightly underscale - more like 1/150ish, so keep that in mind for furture releases.
Thanks and looking forward to any news.

I think the 32x line is really coming into it's own right now! Remember the old days of the P-51D and Me-262... At first you couldn't give those away. Now it's a different story.
P-38 in 32x... You know they have to do it. It's only a matter of when. I would think it's soon. It's such a loved airplane. 21st wants to do one. I have heard them talk about it before and even recently. Like I said it's just a matter of the schedule.
I really try to hold back and avoid talking about some of the future stuff I hear about, One- because I can't... rules and all. The second is that I don't want to look like I am teasing. But I just can't help but be excited for what is in store with 32 planes. You guys WILL see some crazy cool stuff around the corner. 190A's are just a warm up! Just trust me. It's gonna be fun.

Nooker, I feel the same way about having too many repaints of one plane. I tell myself "only one of each" and demand more new releases from 21C.
I don't know how but somehow five of the P-51B/C releases are hanging from my ceiling.
Let's be honest, I am going to buy damn near every paint scheme they release for the "Butcher Bird"!

I know everybody wants something here and there, but I cant help but wonder why 21st still jumps around so much???
I recently bought many 21st items, Italians, Afrika Korp figs, along with a 155 long tom and a 76mm M4? Picked up a Porsche turetted Tiger II and the new German infantry! (great figures)
I love the vehicels I love the planes but would like to see more figures. Since you guys make zilch in Rusian armor or aircraft why the figure set? ( i have three sets by the way) zero Italian armor and one aircraft ( new figure set? Afrika Korp two sets 8th army two sets and you made one PIII in a north africa scheme??? Japanese infantry???
Point is you havent made US infantry in how many years now? Five? No rangers no Airborne 101st etc. Very popular things that 21st just doesnt cover?

TKO, there is a design flaw inherent with the P-51C design. I love this model, its so much better than the previous 1/32 P-51D. However, the only bad part is the canopy. It keeps falling off! It is not secure at all! I have the wonderful Polish version, the Malcolm hood C model is my favorite Mustang, but the canopy is not secure at all. Why weren't tabs molded onto the bottom like on the P-51B? I understand company decisions and compromises in the toy world, but this is a flaw that is very dissapointing. I had a similar problem with the Warhawk, but I was able to fix it by heating it, bending it, and freezing the canopy to hold the shape. However this does not work on the Malcolm hood(I stayed up late trying several times, it does not work on it). Will tabs be molded in the future? I realize its meant to open and close via sliding, however with no tabs, there is no way that it is secure when closed. This is highly dissapointing considering how great this model is. Its a shame. I am hesitant on picking up any other C model until this is rectified. Many of the members on this board and others have also praised the model but were dissapointed with the canopy. Will 21st make a new Malcolm hood in the future? I will gladly send mine back to them for a replacement with tabs.
Other than that very awesome, blows away the previous P-51D by an extremely long shot. Its a whole different animal. Did Roy work on this one? For that matter, which 1/32 models did he work on?

I have the same question tko. Does Roy work on the paint schemes of the 1/32nd P-51's? I will be getting Berlin Express and believe it or not it will be my first 1/32nd P-51. I know Roy worked on the BBD and Old Crow paint scheme for the 1/18th Mustangs because him and I have talked about Old Crow having white wall tires on the P-51D and about the name Old Crow being on the otherside of the engine cowling.
Will or have 21st ever thought about doing a 1/18th P-51B or C in 1/18th?

TKO,
A few years back 21st proposed 1/18 vertical storage rack stands to hold the 1/18 craft upright and to save space.
With the 1/32 extreme wings line growing immensely these past years, and growth only to increase, is there a possibility for vertical storage rack stands for the 1/32 scale planes?
These planes seem to sell better than the 1/18 counterparts, have a steady flow with distributioon, and have proven to be popular. I rarely ever see who buys these, but someone sure is buying them. These are smaller planes, but they sure do add up. Most of us come to the same conclusion:
"Where am I going to put all these?"

Tko,
I recently bought the corsair dogfight set. I noticed that the Corsair and Zero were more fragile than the recent P-51B Mustang releases. I also noticed they were made a few years prior to it. Will future 1/32 releases be as durable if not more durable than the current Mustang? The current Mustang is AWESOME(aside from the malcolm hood issues I mentioned previously).
Also when will we hear news about the 1/32 F-4 and MIG-21? Since those are bigger than the warbirds, do they have any chance at being sold at walmart? I hope we can hear something new on these before toyfair to wet the appetite.

1/48 question
Will the P-52B/C be re-released in 1/48. I picked up the ME109 P-40N on clearance. Recently picked a re-released p-40N and the P-40E Aluetian. Would really like to find the P-51 in 1/48
Thanks
Thanks
