I want these really bad not just because of the movie Platoon but because the characters of the movies where in the 25th Infantry Div. I spent my time with the 25th infantry Div when I was in the infantry. So there will always be a soft spot in my heart when it comes to all things 25th inf. Div.

I served from 1993-1997.
Colonel "Madman" Maddox: Let me hear your guns!
Captain Wild Bill Kelso: My what?
Colonel "Madman" Maddox: Your guns! Ack, ack, ack, ack, ack!
Captain Wild Bill Kelso: [fires his airplane's guns] AHHHH!

Just think of the posing possibilities if we use some of those extra legs they come with to customize other figures. :D

Sorry guys, but releasing these figs now is not exactly "cutting edge" for our scale. If they release a movie line it should be a little more current.

If they release a new fig line from VN, great, but don't try to link it to an old movie......if they do that how about a line from "Sahara".......the WW2 Bogie "Sahara", with the Grant tank "Lulabelle" and maybe a play set of the ruins they fight from.

I'd rather have them release the KT and the 88mm gun.........or maybe a current line of Abrams, the up-armored Humvees and the ton of other neat looking current vehicles.

I must confess I'm a little disappointed in the translation from one color pre-production sample to the painted final release. The resemblance is not as good going from one to the other. That being said, I'll probably have to pick up a Barnes figure for grins.

personally i don't care if they look like the characthers in the movie or not as i'm going to use them as just generic Vietnam soldiers. I love the extra legs (and arms again) as it will make for a huge variety of great poses. Bodes very well for future figure lines.

Two thumbs up. :)

Oh yeah. In that regard, the body/leg sculpts are tip-top. Excellent army building fodder.

PLATOON FIGURES

Post by Rylau » Wed Sep 12, 2007 9:33 am

I'll pick up 3 or 4 of each and trade legs and arms. That will make 2 squads. Just have to go to Mark at Build-A-Rama for the radio and medic equip.

Why would you want an orange Tiger Stripe Huey? CIA hueys were on sale everywhere for a while. If you were going to paint one, you could have painted that..

Ill sure be picking up plenty of these along with a few 88s and a kingtiger  I just love the pre posed legs, great for future customs :D
Now all we need to see is what paint scheme the 88 will be. Im crossing my fingers for a dak scheme:wink:

Granted, the pre-paint samples seemed more promising. But I'll be getting multiples of each nevertheless. Been waiting years for some fresh Nam figures. My teenage son wants 'em too!

the weapons are done well, and pre posed legs are a plus too
I look forward to these and any other figures with this concept
