Korean War next logical step

About two years ago 21C offered a Korean version of the Corsair. Now with the announcement of the F-86 and the Mig-15, it appears 21C can open the door to many Korean war offerings. I'll start a new room in my house divoted to Korean aircraft. It will be next to my WWII room which is getting full.

The F9F Cougar/Panther (first full production Navy fighter) should be added to the want list. Oh by the way, how about the Skyraider which got is first use in Korean and lasted into Vietman. Then there are the Vietnam birds..... I think you get my drift.

Funny, I've been thinking the same thing. Agree with you 100%.

Skyraider is a must.

Corsair with napalm, rockets a must (Chosin Res. dio).

But, I need to get back to reality. Don't think this stuff, if considered by 21c at all, will be coming any time soon.

21C could build M4A3E8s, M-26s and T-34s. They could do repaints from two wars. I would also like to see the little helicopter. The one they used in M.A.S.H. The original "CHOPPER". I believe they were built by Sikorsky.

An A-1 Skyraider is a very logical aircraft to do. There are plenty of repaint options, you can include a ton of bombs and other accessory ordinance, it is sized well and works, as you said, for both Korea and Viet Nam!

I'd love to see a Korean War line. Chinese soldiers and equipment; the Panther jet (one of my favorite movies is "Bridges of Toko-Ri"); the little Bell helo; etc. 21st could even re-use the BoB US soldiers if they wanted to. The Korean era is often overlooked, but important both for the men who sacrificed, and it was a period of transition for gear and equipment.

I agree that it's time for the Korean War to be recongnized in 1/18 scale. The "Forgotten War" has many possibilities of cross over equipment, vehicles and uniforms. Maybe 21st will finally build the M26 Pershing. If they need any parts, they can have my useless M41 Walker Bulldog back. Nice tank but don't fit in anywhere. That says it all right there. The first Jet on Jet Dog Fights, Napalm, Corsairs firing rockets, first helicopters and a brutal war that we are still finding disclosed information about. How many POWs and MIAs were hidden in the Soviet Union and China????????????? Why didn't the U.S. Government let Mac Arthur do his job and smash the North when he had the chance??

I agree it would have been nice to finish the war and we could have avoided 50 years of DMV and a tense armistice, but McArthur was canned for very publicly airing his desire to use nuclear weapons and egging the Chinese on. Truman felt he had no choice but to sack him, especially as McArthur did not always follow orders from the CinC to the letter of the law.

In hindsight I think it was wise not to use nuclear weapons; the precedent could have had very scary consequences! The grunts in the Chosin probably felt very differently though...

Can you imagine being in a frozen platoon low on ammo and everything else facing down battalion after battalion of Chinese? These men are true heroes!

they've got marines, and they've battle of the bulge, you could do a mix and match of sorts to come up with winterized marines, i dont think that 21st would have to stretch too far for some korean war items, i already plan on buying the sabre and mig, figures would rock too.

Hopeully we will get a set of Korean figures...that includes american & UN troops..plus ROK soldiers plus North Korean soldiers plus Chinessee soldiers....

Use of nukes in Korea: You obviously have to look at the big picture. As mentioned above, this would of loosened ANY moral restraint on the use of nukes in our lifetime. Our existance might very well be quite different right now. Imagine the Cuban nuke crisis after such use in Korea. I don't like thinking about it.........

Me neither. You ever read the book "On the Beach" or see the well done film staring Gregory Peck? Very depressing, but it explores a tantalizing concept.

As for Korean era stuff, 21c could modify their Sherman and they already have the M-41. The BoB & Marine figure crosses to make "Winter Marines" is a great idea also!

While Korean war items are certainly do-able i dont think 21c would view them as very sell-able, except among us fanatical diehard collectors....and there simply aren't enough of us wierdos to generate sufficient sales.

Korean war items, particularily ground items are very customizable from wwii stuff though and as more WWII items come out there is more fodder for making korean war customs from them...

I do think we have a decent chance of seeing a Panther one day, which would be pretty sweet..

A Panther would be sweet. With the folding wings on her, she'd be nice and compact. We have a nice restored (non-flyable) example at the POF museum, and she's easily small enough to fit in the standard XD box.

There is next to nothing 21st Century could use from their Sherman for Korea. The BBI is close as the 105mm Sherman was used, though most had the Easy eight suspension. It would be easy for BBI to modify their Sherman with an Easy eight set up and a T23 turret . Also the M41 wasn't used in Korea. The M24 Chaffee was the light tank at that time.
