bbi Little Bird Question

Post by Tinman » Sun Feb 27, 2005 10:24 am

Has anyone removed the large sensor module (or whatever it may be called!) from the nose of the LB? It looks like it's held in place by two small phillips head screws through the greenhouse, but I can't get to them.

Any ideas? Thanks!

Yeh, I tried to remove the sensor module from the front so I could make a Vietnam era Loach. Well it didn't work as planned and now the Little Bird is in about 500 pieces. I got frustrated because the piece in question was difficult to remove and caused more damage than thought and I ruined the Helicopter. That's why it's in 500 pieces. They don't fly to well when you throw them. That was a $22.00 lesson for me. Oh well, I tried.

I modified mine from the Kenyan MD-500 Defender II that it actually represents to an AH-6 Little Bird. It took a little disassembly of the cockpit to get to the crews, but I got them out finally. I chopped off the alternate exhausts and the tail cone that covers the standard 500-series exhaust. It doesn't look too far off the mark now and was worth doing. It was a lot of work that could have been avoided with a little better research on BBIs part.

Thanks - I guess I'll have to study it more to see how to get to those screws without destroying the whole thing....
