Probably so, but either way, the BBI Hellcat does have more dihedral than the 21c Avengerdigger wrote:Cool.
Now that I look at those pics it seems they could have added more..

Beautiful model! I am looking forward to getting one. My only gripe is the skinny tires. They really look skinny in the front view. Now if I can just find another crashed Avenger. I put Avenger tires and wheels on a BBI Corsair, and I think they would look great on the Hellcat as well.

Well, I received my hellcat today, but it is still in the shipping box, so I haven't had a chance to look at it yet. I'm still at work, and yes I have my stuff sent to my work. This day is going to drag on I can already tell, and that after a sleepless night to boot. Thanks again tman

The Avenger wings have dihedral? Must have missed it when I was using the wings as a straightedge...tmanthegreat wrote:Probably so, but either way, the BBI Hellcat does have more dihedral than the 21c Avengerdigger wrote:Cool.

Here are a couple photos of the Hellcat with both wings folded:kevrut wrote:Hey Tman, can you post pics of your planes sitting side by side with the wings folded up?
Side-by-side with the 21c Avenger and BBI Corsair.

Next to the 21c Avenger. Note that the Avenger's wings fold into the correct position, whereas they do not on the Hellcat.

I recieved my Hellcat yesterday from BadCat (Thanks guys!). Overall I like the aircraft the detailing and weathering is superb. However, I'm having a few fit problems with mine. First the flaps won't stay up. They keep sliding to the down positioin. The main landing gear won't lock down, you have to use extreme force to snap them in place. Even then they easily snap out of place with just the slightest pressure. I'm afraid to put to much pressure on them otherwise I feel they will break off. Finally, there have been many discussions here about the wing folding mechanism and an accurate fold. I don't care one way or another where the wing lays when its folded. My problem is that when the wings are unfolded the fit isn't very good and I have much of a gap between the main wing and the inboard root. Its very hard to get a close fit so on one side of my bird the wing sags. Oh and I forgot there was glue marks on the windshield.
I'm not trying to knock it down or say its a bad plane. Perhaps even, I got the one bad one of the bunch. Overall I like the plane still and I'm a good enough modeller to be able to repair or refit most of the parts. I was wondering if anyone else has encountered these problems?

Hellcat at retail stores?.
I think it was about two months ago BCA had a notice up telling customers the Hellcat would be available from them first but a general retail release was expected by BBi. My local TRU has had the Corsairs and P-51's in stock so I hope to find a Hellcat one of these days. I'm in no hurry, I don't know where I'm going to put it - much less the B-25. Time to take over my wife's sewing room.

called my tru
I called my tru and gave them the sku# and they said it's in the computer as active but none in stock. it comes up as 1:18 scale aircraft assortment.
so now we just have to wait. we should now make a sticky on TRU Hellcat finds.

? for Tman
Hey tman, I got mine today, pretty nice. One question, when you got yours was the fuselage section canted to the port side inside the box? Mine is , just curious. Thanks

A few things I dealt with...
Terrible gap on the bottom fuselage, could not mate any closer because a connecting pin was resisiting this on the inside. I heated a screwdriver tip and melted it in half inside the fuselage. This enabled me to squeeze the fuselage together closer and super glue it. Still a gap though, but not as bad.
I also just glued the wings on. they never really snapped tight and held a dihedral shape properly, I dont care if they fold or not. I hang most of these up anyways. Also one elevator was floppy. would not stay in place. So I just glued them both on in a neutral position.
Other then those things, what everyone else has said.
This one was a must have for me, my father worked on these birds once upon a time.

I did take a picture of the box before it was opened, so you tell mevmf214 wrote:Hey tman, I got mine today, pretty nice. One question, when you got yours was the fuselage section canted to the port side inside the box? Mine is , just curious. Thanks

The fuselage was at an angle in the box, but not 45 degrees. I was actually surprised BBI got such a big fighter into such a small box, with everything securely packed and no broken parts. 21c should take a cue from this

On another note, the wings were scary to put together. It was tough to push a delicate and awkward support piece on the outer wing through a slot on the inboard piece. You have to make sure its in as far as it will go in order that the wings extend properly. I'm not too wild about that design feature, but it seems to hold up the wings better than the support system on the 21c Avenger (or at least its that way with my Hellcat.)
