New 1/144 and 1/32 Dogfight

Post by rmoore456 » Wed Aug 08, 2007 5:07 pm

Found these two new 1/144 planes at the new Walmart at Peru, Illinois.

At least they put "Old Crow" on both sides!
They also had a new 1/32 Dogfight set of the "Big Hog" Corsair and a red 183 Zero. Didn't pick these up.

Can't remember, is the Zero a new scheme or one that already came out. Mine are too buried to check.

Yeah, me too!
Yeah, me three  The Frank was probably the best Jap fighter of the war and it would make a very nice 32X model.

Hmm I'd sure like to see another 32x dogfight two-pack.

Anybody have any pics of that new dogfight? Can't seem to find it on the internet. Pics or links to a site that has pics of it would be great!

I really like the BIG HOG Corsair. That red prop hub looks so cool. I think this 32nd scale Corsair looks every bit as good as any of the 18th scale Corsairs. :D

7 WalMart's in a 20 mile radius of my house and I have yet to see any dogfight sets or any of the armor sets.

Same here except I only have 6. :P None have finished or recovered from their reset yet so maybe once the dust settles.

I found the new 1:32 Dogfight packs last weekend. The Zero sure looks nice, but 21c should have gone the extra mile and made a different Corsair paintscheme as opposed to re-releasing "Big Hog." My area got plenty of that Corsair last Christmas so I expect these will move slowly... Ira Kepford's plane or even Boyington's would have been very cool.

The only WM that has finished resetting their toy department has a space on the bottom shelf marked for the twin packs but sadly, no twin packs.
To their credit they had a bunch of the new playsets but no 32x armor or aircraft.

I like the zero and I never saw the Hog here but I already have the white tail Corsair and don't need another.

Dogfight Set

Post by Coreyeagle48 » Sun Aug 19, 2007 6:02 pm

Greetings:

I found this set today at a Walmart that is out of my normal driving range but I figured I would stop and hope they would have this set and they did. I was not going to get it but then I broke down too as I have all the prior dogfight sets.

This set is nice and I never got Big Hog so I picked it up. Went into storage with the other sets. The only other thing I have seen here is the new AVG P-40's and some of the 1/144 packs on clearence.

Did the 32 Dogfight sets go up in price???

Corey

The tags on the shelf read $28 or $28.99. I haven't actually seen one yet though.

I don't recall what the older sets went for.

I paid $31 in total with tax for the 32x Corsai/Zero recently and I recall they used to be around the $26 range for the older sets. I think they did go up in price :?

Perhaps the increase is due to the fact that they're including more complicated and detailed aircraft (like the Corsair and Stuka) than the older moulds that were done originally. The original packs were sort of a deal, but now one is paying closer to the actual price of getting two 32x aircraft...

BTW - Does anyone have a picture of the new 32x Dogfight set with the Italian Stuka and Macchi?

Is that at least a new scheme on the Macchi?

It is a new scheme for the Macchi - S4. The mis-matched cammo pattern on the wing is aparently due to the fact that on the actual plane, the wing was damaged and then replaced with parts from another. The Stuka replicates a plane flown by Capt. Raul Zucconi from 208a Squadrigli, 101 Gruppo, based in Sicily during the Balkans Campaign in 1941. The Macchi was a plane flown by Capt. Franco Lucchini of the 84a Squadrigli, 101 Gruppo, based in Fuka, Egypt in 1941. Kind of neat both planes in the set are from the same Gruppo. The Macchi is from the same squadron as the S2 "Reinar" Macchi.
