Truck differentials

Post by ram04 » Sat Jul 03, 2010 12:00 pm

I'm looking for some truck differentials, preferably a front and back from a four wheel drive, these would need to be in the 1:18 to 1:16 scale.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.

Bump,

All you custom guys out there don't have any suggestions? :D I'm wanting to build something different, so it does'nt have to be historically correct, just point me in the right direction, Thanks.

The only thing I know of is the half track . That has a semi differential on the bottom . Only half.

Or you can make it out of a large bead. Like one of those big Mardis Gras beads.
Drill it out and slide a rod in it for an axel.

Michaels has small wooden balls that you can use to do the same thing.

With just a little detail work you should get it looking preety good.
Kirk Douglas : Mine hit the ground first
John Wayne : Mine was taller

I'm not sure if the idea would pan out, but I have noticed a fair number of R/C rock crawling vehicle in hobby shops as of late. I want to say that 1:16 to 1:18 were popular scales. The had accessory detail kits for some of them with gas cans, axes, Hi-Lift jacks, and so forth, maybe that's a route worth checking out?

Thanks for the ideas, I kinda looked at the RC trucks, but it seems most that I found were 1/10, I may try the bead and rod approach, what I'm thinking of doing won't really need super detail underneath.

If you're feeling adventurous, I could dig up some paper model files. You can then just print them out. I know i've got some GMC trucks, and an Opel truck somewhere......
