Post by flyboy_fx » Thu Mar 18, 2010 2:45 pm

Ok PH, The hun, Plasticfanatic, Ect.

Where do you get your resin? Can you give me a basic rundown of what is needed and where to get it to cast a first model? I wan't a hard resin for my models but im sure you know that ;)

And where do I get the silicon? Thanks!!!

Hobby Lobby carries resin and mold making kits. If you have the stores in your area, they run 40% off coupons every other week also.

I want some RTV and resign but need the weather to get warmer up here in the N.East, if the product freezes during transport its no good.

Lets try this link... http://www.micromark.com/Casting-and-Mo ... plies.html

http://www.smooth-on.com/

love their moldmaking rtv and their resin.

they have some great how-to videos on their site.

Their starter kit is a good price at $50

They're also great to deal with as a company. When I was a poor design student they shipped me tons of free samples (worked well for them, they've kept my business :) ).

flyboy, you should try contacting them and let them know what you're working on and that you're a student and can't afford to go all out but would love to try their product, see if you can get a discount or some freebies.
