1/32 P-38's

Post by JollyRoger » Mon Jun 21, 2010 7:44 pm

Hi, this is my second post. My first post was on the 1/18 section. I have built just about all the different scales of aircraft through different periods of time. During the several years that I was building 1/32 I converted this P-38L and P-38M out of Revells P-38J kits. I also converted the P-51A from Revells P-51B Shangrila. The staff car is an old Pyro 1/32 kit.

HaHa, Yea your right. How embarrassing. Its hard to believe that dust can get on these things when they are in the showcase. I really didn't see it when I was taking the pictures. I only noticed it after I put the planes away and was putting the pics on the post.

Good looking models,JollyRoger.

But you might ask for a "swiffer' for your birthday.

Cool 8)

If we ran another poll the P-38 would probably win as the most desired 1:32 WWII pre-built fighter that hasn't been made yet.

What happened to our hopes of seeing 1:32 warplanes being made again? :(

They are, but you have to build them yourself.

Finally saved up enough ebay loot to get myself a B-25. I actually already have a P-38 I built but I have a second kit I'd like to make into a night recon or droop snoop.

A neat thing I've noticed with the kits is that I can sort of justify what looks like a repaint to the uneducated, but is actually a different model of a subject. For example, there are about 9 different versions of the Spitfire in 1/32 kit form out there: Mk I, Mk Ib, Mk Vb, Mk Vb Trop, Mk VI, Mk VIII, Mk IXc, Mk XVIe and Mk 22/24. Now I can have 9 different paint schemes of Spitfires knowing I didn't just buy the same plane 9 times. I actually bought a case of the 21C BF109F kits with the intention of building all of them as NON-German planes - I have markings for Bulgarian, Finnish, and Italian planes.

Things like that I may not see manufactured in my lifetime, so I have to manufacture them myself.

Congrats on the B-25. 8) ...all good and fine to put them together yourself, but I like them assembled and painted for me for $15 a piece.

Like that will ever happen again, :? but I'd pay a little more. Maybe not as much as a $100 BBI F-4 though.

I find just as many variants of a Spitfire in 1:72 diecast, but rather see them in larger 1:32 plastic pre-made, pre-painted, just like a Corgi, but doesn't weigh a ton like a heavy metal 1:32 Corgi.

It can be done.

Agree...Of course, if 21st Century had built the P38's in 1/32, instead of 1/18, then I'd want the 1/18 just as bad! The P38 was an awesome aircraft & makes a great display in any size or paint scheme.
