4 for Victory Prize??

Post by Razor17019 » Mon Mar 06, 2006 6:24 am

TKO:

It is now March 6th, 2006 and still no word on when the P-51 "prize" will be shipped out???

Can you give us a bone on this one? The spot in the corner of my basement assigned to the P-51 is being re-assigned to the Admiral F-86 Sabre jet...

Its amazing that everyone went head over heals to participate on this "Special Promotion" and now they are waiting for what seems like an eternity for that re-tooled P-51. I thought 21st made it clear that at the time production was not complete so the winners would have to wait. Well you guys are waiting and by the time you get your special edition P-51 everyone that didnt participate in the Promotion will have theirs! I'm glad I didnt play along because I would have been going nuts! My heart goes out to you guys and I'm being honest about that and its wrong that 21st hasnt got your Mustangs out to you's. You guys should have had them by now. I would be upset to, more so because the special edition Mustang is one painted up in the markings of "Tender Terror" I believe and that Mustang hailed from the 357th FG. The group who happenes to be my all time favorite in WW 2.

Hang in there boys.

does this really suprise anyone? not to seem like a damp sock, but 21st has proven again and again, that they're not very accurate when it comes to timeframes? wishing you fellas luck with getting whats due, but like the poster above, I to sat this one out as I knew this would be the case.

That's one heck of a way to treat special customers. Hope you folks get those planes you so deserve.

I am not trying to reopen the can of worms this thing generated when it first came out. All I want is some news as to when the plane promised will be ready to ship out to the people who participated in this endevor.

If you didn't participate, don't worry about it...

I know 21st is working on them. I was on the phone with them today as a matter of fact.

The 4-for Victory P-51's are not at all forgotten. This scheme mustang has always been in the que behind the Ridge Runner, Flying undertaker, and petie 2nd. So naturally the 4 for victory scheme is not out yet as the these others are just now starting to come on-line.

The fact that the other schemes are now releasing should be the first indication that the 4-for victory is on its way. Official word should come down from 21st very soon. Don't stress, 21st will make sure you guys get em!

TKO,
Not worried, just wanted a status update on the project.
I know there are others like me that want to know also, so I posted the question instead of just sending a PM.

Again, appreciate the direct line of communication you provide to us on the board!

And thanks to P-51 for providing the platform for us to gather!

Any news or updates?

I see all 3 versions of the re-tooled Mustangs are out; how far behind is the 4 for Victory Mustang?

Also, I thought I remembered seeing some pics of the nose art for the plane (Tender Terror I think?) - does anybody have a link or some pics to help tide us over until we get our P-51s?

No problem :D

Did you read the last information on this from 21st Century?
They basically said that they want to get the plane right, but want to make sure we get it as quickly as possible. Not sure how that balancing act is gonna work.

We may be in for a loooong wait...

I remember when the 4 for Victory contest went up and I also remember 21st saying (at least to me) that the Tender Terror would most likely be the 3rd or 4th paint scheme and that it would only be produced for thoses who participated in the promotion. All the P-51's took about 3 months longer to produce due to last minute edits to the mold and other industry considerations. So in short they are all behind.

1:18 projects are always expensive and time consuming to produce so estimating a release date is always difficult. (you might notice that there has been no real confimation for the ETA of the Sabre and MiG-15 yet....) This is no accident.

Anyway back to the Tender Terror. There are only a few hundred of these that are going to be produced. So the paint process is a little more tricky and costly for a short run order. And while it does seem like forever ago, trust me when I say they are being worked on as we speak. w
When those loyal fans who were good enough to engage in the promotion do get thiers they will be one of the most valuable collector items and be second only to John Lumley's "one of a kind".

Tender Terror will not be made available to anyone other than a perticipant. So if any of you "ACES" decide you are fed up waiting to get yours and decide to e-bay it LET ME KNOW FIRST! I was not permitted to participate and I really wanted one.

Hang in there ACES, 21st has not forgotton and they certainly WILL NOT let you guys down. I know for a fact that the VP of operations is pushing hard to get them out to you. In my mind all the ACES who were bold enough to join in are some very great customers. 8)

TKO,
How about running this by 21st Century? For all of us that have been waiting for the plane for almost a YEAR now... have 21st Century kick in a little extra - A new MIG to go with the Tendor Terror??
Too much?

-How about an autographed figure from Roy??
That would be a really nice gesture from 21st Century to us loyal fans...

I like that figure idea. Maybe some of those ground crew members that are coming with the legends Pappy Corsair, hint, hint.

Not quite a year yet ...I think the contest ended in late September, no? It didn't say how long you would have to wait for your prize (I don't think). I think guys on this board knew pretty well who they were dealing with when they signed up for the contest. I would just sit tight and when it comes it comes..like the Avenger.

Still waiting for the official word... sorry fellas. Last time I heard the molds were moved to the new factory and production was underway and would be "piggy-backed" with another production run making it easier and more cost effictive from a production standpoint. My decison maker contact at 21st is out on holiday for a couple weeks so I think something like this topic is going to be something I will have to get back to you on.
21st knows how you guys feel and they really do appreciate the patience which ALL of you have been really great about. When boss is back I will see what I can find out for you Aces! ...still gotta see if I can fast talk myself into one too!

I'm also looking forward to "Tender Terror" because I did participate in the V For Victory contest and won a Mustang but so far I havent heard anything as of yet either. But I will be patient because it will come eventually.

Guys I know that we have been waiting for awhile now for our Victory Mustangs but I think we will get them soon. I think 21st is just wanting to get them right on the money because they are special edition Mustangs, one of a kind, and when we have them in hand we will be very proud. I know I will be.
