Sorry guys, my pics are limited...camera went on the fitz at the 21C both.
Admiral CEO, Jim Foringer, was very sharing with info, said if the F4 sells well a B-25 could be done by them. That in itself was great news.
Jim says the F4 should be out by Christmass and the Dauntless is hoped for release this summer. Sorry guys but I forgot what he said about release of the Skyraider, could also be Christmass.
21C's Mike Cordero was another ace as far as I'm concerned, open and informative. Bad news for me is that 1/6 is practically dead as far as 21C is concerned
Mike said the 1/18 KT should be out by summer. My bad, but I did not see the 1/18 88mm, just the 1/32 with a ton of other 1/32 stuff, some brand new, some old. I didn't ask Mike about it, I didn't know about it.
These two guys are great guys, everything the hobby could ask for.

I met Mike at the Chicago show last fall and he was really fun to talk to--you coould tell how much fun he had talking about their products to a real fan and not just another corporate buyer who wouldn't know the difference between a P-40 and an F-16 (prop vs. jet, right? jk).
I have never had to a chance to speak with Jim but have spoken with Jason on a occasion, and I agree totally--these are the kind of people that make me truly enjoy being in this hobby!

Only on the 1:32 version that flooded WalMart at Christmas. But this was also my point. It's not likely we will see the revised Stuka (just fine by me), and with a good number of alternative schemes, 21st doesn't need to return to the past to redo a scheme that's already been done.Timbo wrote:A little off topic but has anyone actually seen these new Stuka pictures? I've been looking since this was first mentioned last year and I still haven't seen them.Plane Nuts wrote: Well, it's a lot like the Snake Stuka, where more recent research has made a significant change on the coloring. I highly doubt that anything real significant has turned up with BBD. In fact, it's still not as good as it could be since the kill markings are more overtly PC than Bad Cats' exclusive. My point is that this is trying to sell plastic using flashy colors over and over, while there were thousands of P-51s in the war (and post war with National Guard and foreign armies) with just as deserving pilots as this plane that we aren't seeing because 21st thinks people will only buy the famous and flashy ones.
TKO: Thanks for the explanation. I did not realise that it was a totally different airplane, but then I saw what you were indicating and it might be ok to put on the market afterall!

No worries! The Big Beautiful Doll question was actually a really great one. Most people might not know the difference or perhaps might not have cared. So I was actully really glad you brought it up in fact! It needed to be asked. There will be plenty of mustang schemes that will come out over the years. I already know of at least one more that 21st has planned.

I would love to see Urban Drew's Mustang in 1:18. I already have the 1:32 dog fight set, but the 1:32 P-51 and Me-262 are not up to the current standard. I started to convert my BBI Mustang to the Detroit Miss scheme, but I have yet to finish it.

The PAK 40 Halftrack was at Toy Fair... And the word we got from 21st was that the King Tiger would be out hopefully by Fall '07 and the 88 is due out right around the corner but there's issues with pricing the retailers want, and what 21st wants to deliver at that price and such... having to do with crew pack-in(s) and such.
The range finder German posted on the 21st website the other day was also made specifically with the 88 in mind, or so was said.
Our reporter said the 21st guys were a great booth to deal with, as were the people representing BBI. Both very cordial, very giving with information and excitement about talking about the product(s) they were showing. After some of the stuff our guys were through there, it was refreshing for them to get really positive people.

Let's not forget Miss Marilyn. That's the only P-51D I currently own. It's also likely the only scheme that could get me to lay down the coin for a 1/18th D model. Even you have admitted it's one you'd like to see.tko211 wrote:Big Beautiful Doll...
well there are several reasons actually.
1. It is the most popular selling scheme bar none! 21c has some great intel / sources in the industry and BBD is just a hands down winner all the time!
2. This version is very different from the first release in many ways. 1. the new tooling, 2. this version is a last version Landers flew and it features the full 3 rows of checkers on the wingtips. 3. the paint colors are improved over the last one. 4. Cowl checkers have been corrected to the actual scale size 5. the other one is kinda old and many new fans are demanding this scheme having missed the first issue.
In most cases you are correct that it makes no sense to re run schemes. But in a very few cases depending on the situations it makes good sense.
Hope that helps.

If at first you don't succeed, try, try again. Then quit. No use being a damn fool about it.

Are the BBI green an grey paint schemes for Anderson's plane inaccurate? I haven't been able to find a pic of a P-51D with those markings, only the B version.MightyMustang wrote:I just looked again at the 21st Website and I love "Old Crow". THATS how it should be done. In NMF not the green/grey scheme BBI came out with. I cant wait to get me hands on "Old Crow" and "Big Beautiful Doll".

Re: old crow
After D-day, American Fighter/Bomber squadrons moved their bases to France and the European continent.. Allied commanders feared that the NMF and D-day stripes would make the Allied fighters and Bombers too vulnerable to German air attacks while on the ground, so it was ordered that planes upper surfaces be repainted in Olive Drab.. This only lasted a short time when it was decided that the German Luftwaffe didn't pose a threat anymore and many squadrons went back to the NMF..mountian-man wrote: Are the BBI green an grey paint schemes for Anderson's plane inaccurate? So yes, the OD/Gray finish is accurate....

Nope its not inaccurate but the NMF scheme on Old Crow was the most famous version of Bud Andersons P-51D. Bud actually favored the green/grey scheme and argued loudly that his P-51 was stripped of the green/grey finish. But again the green/grey finish is accurate but just not my favorite.

I love the king tiger and the 88!
Congratulations 21st - those two are damn good decissions you have made.
My favorite tank so far is the tiger I. I love the fact that the turret is removable and the interior is detailed. I hope the King Tiger will also have these features, but I doubt it. I believe Walmart puts pressure on the price level and 21st has to save productions costs whereever they can.
I wish I've had the chance to ask the guys from 21st some questions at the toy fair. I'd love to know if there is a chance for a re-release of the first paratrooper wave. Esspecially those german Fallschrimjäger are impossible to find for a reasonable price right now. tko221, could you please ask Roy this question for me?
