Great news. It will be nice to have an updated Humvee available at retail. Their next project should be an MRAP.

Re: BBI released it's 1/18 M1114 Up-Armored Humvee
Very cool! I just ordered one as well. The price on Amazon isn't much different than what one would pay at retail and with Amazon Prime, I get free 2-day shipping, so I should have this by Thursday. I'm tempted to order another pack of the Army Ranger figures as well... They're not as good as the old BBI figures, but aren't bad either.

Re: BBI released it's 1/18 M1114 Up-Armored Humvee
I ordered one also. Did BBI make a Hummer before and if so how detailed was it, 21st XD guilty?
Re: BBI released it's 1/18 M1114 Up-Armored Humvee
They have made a few. I think their was 3 or 4 of them from the first mold which wasn't as good as 21st, and then there was a special ops one that was nicer. This looks like a mixture of both with some upgrades to me

Great details and one great price

Re: BBI released it's 1/18 M1114 Up-Armored Humvee
I got the new BBI Humvee today
First, details are pretty basic. The vehicle pretty much consists of upper and lower plastic shells screwed together. The vehicle does not have much weight to it - actually, I think a PTE Hummer weighs more! There is no ballistics glass, period. Nothing on the turret shields, windows, or windshield. I partly expected that would be the case as BBI never included glass windows on their previous Humvees, but it is still a little disappointing. The underside is poorly detailed. Wheels are hollow and really not much suspension detail and no transmission detail. At least there are no holes on the floor under the rear seats! The paint job is very basic. Just a single color for the upper and lower surfaces with mild weathering. Details like straps, headlamps, etc. are not painted.
The new vehicle's interior has the seats, steering column, dash, and computer screen (neat!), and raised details on the floor. The door insides have the latches detailed. The cargo bed is very basic with a couple clamps for holding weapons and not much else. Previous BBI Humvees had jerry cans and spare hubcaps detailed in the cargo bed; the 21c Humvees had similar details.
While it is neat to have an M1114 Up-Armored Humvee, but BBI's new vehicle is only marginal compared to the competition, including the older BBI Humvees. It really comes across as a "cheap" vehicle to me, not helped by the lack of paint detailing, simplistic tooling, and especially the lack of any ballistics glass. It will be great with the new BBI figures, which themselves are not the greatest. With a little work, however, this vehicle could be brought up to snuff and turned into something that is pretty good.
Here are some comparison pictures with other 1/18 scale Humvees so you can see how it stacks up:
BBI Humvee (Standard)
BBI Super Humvee
21c Humvee (first version)
Unimax Bravo Team Humvee

Re: BBI released it's 1/18 M1114 Up-Armored Humvee
I'm glad tmanthegreat did the review on the M1114. I was not too impressed with the model when I finally took it out of it's packaging and examined it. It reminded me of a PTE Humvee. Pickelhaube's M1114 conversion is a better choice if your looking to do it right and you have the skill. The antenna was soft plastic and mine had a bend in it which really took away from the model. Like tmanthegreat said with some work it does have potential and you certainly can't beat the price from Amazon right now.

Your photos are quite exciting, skorzeny! There are some fun possibilities with the new Hummer for sure.

Very impressive model and photos. Those deep details will lend themselves well to a dark paint wash to really bring them out.

Re: BBI released it's 1/18 M1114 Up-Armored Humvee
I have been working almost 6 days a week and have been only looking to see what is going on , on the forum.
As you all can guess almost nothing has been done on the Hind project but that will change this week.
As far as the new m-114 goes , to tell you the truth I was fretting the debut because of the up grade kits I made for the other HUMVEEs . Thinking that the money spent would seem as money thrown away.
Well my worries where for not . I do believe that the quality of my kits far out shine the new m-114 .
I had a talk today with Daremo and there could be an upgrade kit for the new BBI to bring it up to speed . We are thinking
my thick radio mast
IBIS bumper
windows with tint
rear spare tire
possible new hatch for turret
usable new mount for chain gun
chain gun
tire backings
Only thing left is the Rhino device.
With all these add ons I think they will be about $70 .
Half of the full kits.
What say you all ?

I'd be in for 2 of the new kits when my pending old kit is done/delivered.

I might be in on the BBI hummer upgrade kit as well... I've got some clear plastic and may make some simple window inserts this weekend.

The back up wheel disk has been made along with the spare tire rework.
Pics should be up by tomorrow.
The easiest way to install the wheel back ups will be to cut the steel axel in half and pull the axel and tire off of the vehicle . Then paint the disk slide down the axel and glue the disk on the back of the wheel.. Then couple the axels back together with a brass coupler. I can supply this with the kit.[/QUOTE]
