Model Power
Model Power
I am guessing everyone knows Model Power went out of business earlier this year. The leftover inventory has started showing up at Ollies ( a regional discount outlet). The models are $3.99 and I saw 5 or 6 different planes. Those I remember are F-14 Puking Dogs, p-26 Peashooter, Polikarpov I-16, Fairy Swordfish, and a couple others.

Re: Model Power
That's too bad about Model Power... I have a few of their planes, including some of the ones that were closest to regular scales like 1:144. I actually just picked up their Wright Flyer model at my local Hobbytown USA store, which really is an excellent model with fine detailing and even wire rigging!
"If you fail to plan, you plan to fail."
Re: Model Power
yes too bad. I have their Wright Flyer as well and it's quite nice and 1/72 scale. Their Fokker DVII is pretty good, it's 1/70. I've seen pics of their Albatros DIII and it looks ok, not as nice as the DVII but is hard to find, it's also 1/70.
i never met an airplane i didn't like...

Aferg:
I believe I have a DIII new in the box in storage. It was in my grandfather's collection. I really have no desire for it in my collection either. If you would be interested in it let me know. Will sell it reasonable and I'm sure my grandfather would have been glad to see it get into someone's collection.

Re: Model Power
Thanks for the offer Corey, but i built a kit of a DIII a few months ago. I'm sure there will be others who would like the MP version though or it would be an easy sell on Ebay, no doubt.

Re: Model Power
Greetings:
There are two Ollies near me and they had the following planes
F-117 (stars and stripes)
Fairey Swordfish (the camo one)
I-16 (white/black)
F-15
F-84
Dauntless
Would be glad to pick any up for anyone who needs something. I am looking for some yet...mostly the World War I planes and the B-17 Liberty Belle.

Re: Model Power
We have about eight cases of Swordfish in Carrollton, GA.
Oh, and BTW: Check your local Ollie's for a hardbound book, "Fighting Men of WWII Axis Forces". It's $10. Covers uniforms and armament of Germany, Japan, and Italy with lots of decent and interesting pics of same, most all color pics of museum collections. Makes a great general reference for modelers; saves time spent digging through piles of Osprey booklets.

I second the recommendation. I got that book and have learned quite a bit from it.

Re: Model Power
That one is special because it is the very first one ever bought at an Ollie's!

Re: Model Power
Stopped by an Ollies today. They had mounds of the planes but only 4 different. P-51, Val, F-14(black) and a Blue Angels C-121 Connie which was nice as unlike nearly all their others it had landing gear!
Looks like they distributed full cases at random without concern of variety.

Re: Model Power
I didn't know they were going out of business. They have a big line of model railroad items too. Their planes were always decent, quality models for the money. Too bad. They often reminded me of the old Bachmann Miniplane line I had as a kid. I guess some other company will pick up the ball and run with it....

Re: Model Power
Stopped at a second area Ollie's. Same thing. Big pile of them but the same four that were at the other one.
