Re: 1/18 160th Nightstalker helicopter
Did anyone else notice that there is still clearly a "hole" in the cabin floor where the seats were removed or "not installed"?
It seems that they should make the floor solid if the seats aren't there.
At first I thought that this was a custom, but it does appear that the FLIR and Radome sensors on the nose are integral to the whole front mold - not added on afterward.
It also seems the paint finish leaves much to be desired - thought it was the cheap PTE blackhawk at first with the semi gloss black and glaring bright decals. The 160th markings are suppossed to be very subdued (think they are actually OD green or grey) and often barely visible.

Looks like a custom to me. Our Birds are Flat Black with OD markings. The MMR Radome is all wrong for a 160th bird.

Don't give up on your DAP accessories. Even if (and I still believe its a big IF) BBI comes out with a retooled Blackhawk, looks like all they added are the miniguns and radome and Flir. Still no fuel probe, crab-eye sensors, or most important for me - the modified winglets with the M230 chain gun and Hellfire missles.
I'm still in for your DAP kit parts if they ever make it to daylight.

Re: 1/18 160th Nightstalker helicopter
@dragon5 - I hope this wasn't recent because that so would be very upsetting to me. Especially since I cannot find one cheaper than $150 or get it on the auctions. Know of anyone else please let me know I'd appreciate it extremely. Especially since I only got less than two months before I can trade
@pcoughran - I'm right there with you for the kit with the chain gun and hellfire missles, I've seen pics if that setup and it's pretty damn mean looking and a lil sexy too
Why would someone make a release like this with such few details and only two very limited pictures... To just get some feedback on a demand? I really hope this isn't just a tease, I'll be very sad

well let's wait til we see the final product before we start picking holes in it. We don't even know if there is going to be a product. Even if not perfect i'd take a new BH just for the window guns. I can use my old one to sling load a humvee.
i never met an airplane i didn't like...

Just as PCoughran and Castroww have said, I'd still be in the market for a full DAP kit if you go forward with it Pickel......
Go Ugly Early in 1/18!!
Still waiting and wishing for a 1/18 A-10 Warthog.

Thanks Man,
Does anybody know who is making this ?

CASTROWW:
I got the UH-60 for $30 about 1-1/2 years ago.
The same collector also sold me a 1/6 AH-6 Little Bird with pilot for about $40.

Re: 1/18 160th Nightstalker helicopter
The figures look to be BBI, I have never seen a blackwawk out of package, so I'm not sure about the bird
Re: 1/18 160th Nightstalker helicopter
Dear Dragon 53, I think you're a little bit severe. OK, the feets go wrong, also depending on the bad pedals. It is less apparent with the crew wearing black shoes. OK, the backside of Harris is above the seat. I've put a cushion simply made of a square piece of black felt. Had to make the same in grey for the gunners in the Blackhawk. At least, it doesn't looks so bad.
For the UH-60, it really seems to be a BBI one.
Pcougran, according to Wikipedia, only half of the Nightstalker got a fuel probe. I agree that PH can still hold on a DAP project with accessories, the 4 to 6 crabe-eye sensors, fuel probe and the M230. I notice that the floor of this MH-60 has a more structured surface, closer to the real one.

Re: 1/18 160th Nightstalker helicopter
granch,
Yeah, I know not all the 160th hawks have fuel probes. Some go wingless (like in Somalia and protrayed in Blackhawk Down and the mystery one pictured in this thread), I believe they can all be configured with or without the external fuel tanks on the winglets, and some have the fuel probes. Not all the 160th hawks are Direct Action Penetrators (DAP) which is what I was referring to before and what many still want to try and create through Pickel's add ons. The DAPs serve a CAS mission and aren't intended to ferry troops like the "naked" versions.
If we wanted a "naked" 160th hawk we could just paint the ones we have black and put the FLIR/Radome on the nose. And yes, I know the 160th hawks are quite a bit different on the inside than the standard Blackhawk, especially in the cockpit area.
I like all the "bells and whistles" - makes the DAP look especially badass compared to the other versions of the blackhawk.

Re: 1/18 160th Nightstalker helicopter
The Seal figure is just a repainted "Hadley" figure:
http://www.sshqdb.com/18/displayimage.p ... =511&pos=0
http://www.sshqdb.com/18/displayimage.p ... =511&pos=1
The production Hadley fig had a different paint scheme and head than the first pic, but the second is a little hard to see.
I don't mind it being a repaint - that is one of my fav. modern 1:18 figs and getting another shot at more would be great.

PCougran, Thank you for yor informations. I agree. But hope for a new release from BBI that I could modify with PH's kit.
Parrish, I'm sure it is a repaint Hadley with a new helmet and head sculpt. Here is Hadley (left):

Re: 1/18 160th Nightstalker helicopter
With these new pictures, it doesn' t look too bad. Hard to tell from the small pic but the markings may not be as bold as they appeared at first at least judging from the tail marking. Wish the pictures were bigger though. Still want a DAP version though as well - this may be easier to convert than the pavehawk I was intending to use as the base for the DAP.

Re: 1/18 160th Nightstalker helicopter
pretty cool release and according to the german site will be available in 3-4 days. Price is eek though, over $200US.
Aside from the thimble nose radar and the window guns are there any other physical changes from the old bbi blackhawk?

Re: 1/18 160th Nightstalker helicopter
I am pretty sure that the 3-4 day availability is a mistake. I will call them tomorrow to find out a more realistic delivery date!
Re: 1/18 160th Nightstalker helicopter
what would be a good figure to use for the window gunners?

Why not buy three optional pilot figures---a co-pilot and two gunners.

Re: 1/18 160th Nightstalker helicopter
So it is a BBI
Kind of pricey though . The old Pavehawks are selling about that much on e-bay.

Ooooo, The DAP is where it's at! I really hope this come to fruition, I've been waiting for my chance to buy a Blackhawk other than from Ebay for a while now. If Pickels makes a DAP kit I'll have to buy two birds, pcoughran wrote:Pickel,

Re: 1/18 160th Nightstalker helicopter
About the price: if the price on the website is correct and this will be the price upon arrival of the helicopters they will cost 10 Euro less (169 Euro) than the latest F-16 release (179 Euro) . So my guess is that those helicopters will cost about as much as the F-16 for you guys in the US,too. So that would be around 160-170 US-$ then....

Re: 1/18 160th Nightstalker helicopter
I bet they got the idea for the winglet plug from Pickel - it's an easy way to finish the end. It would have been nicer to have a real finished end on it however with the Nav lights and all.
I'd still get Pickel's winglet ends with the lights on them even if I got the new blackhawk - that is of course if I wasn't doing the DAP which will need whole new winglets anyway.
