Custom Panzer crews
I just finished the last figure of the first 6 custom tankers.
A BUNCH of work is required to convert DAK dudes into panzer crew members But I got the first 2 tanks worth done Here are some pictures of my custom crews.
I used my E2 and E4 version Jagdpanthers I got from the Hun
Meet Tore Johanstien, he's the next best thing to Jocheim Piper(sp?).
Single handedly he and his crew destroyed 1/2 a division of tanks in the SUCCESSFUL second battle of Arden campain. Now he's making ready to retake Paris, then set his sights on the channel and London

Pink IS the color of the panzer crews. but I like the red color better and they don't make a ultra fine pink pen either. Yet light red isn't too far from pink, so it works for me
As for using the black SS set, you'll need to do the same work on them as you do for the DAK guys. First thing you HAVE to do is cut off all the straps that go over the shoulders. Next you need to cut off the ammo pouches on the belt. If your using the SS guys, you'll have to sand off the arm band too as well as - correction, you can keep the collar ranking IF your modeling the SS tank crews, but I think you will still need to do the pink or red stripe edging on the ranking on the collar as well as on the cap or hat. Next time I do the tankers, I'll take a few "in production" pictures to post

Nice, Job. I've been trying to come up with a good panzer crew recipe, but the only figure, that I have found wearing anything close to a Panzer wrap is GI joe's Cobra Commander, and there is just too much going on with that figure, to be easily modified.
How do you make all the little medals. They look like they are actually metal?

How to make the custom tanker figures
Ok, here we go
I started another group of tankers and am going to do the step by step on
how to make them out of DAK figures. Here is the first two steps.
First off, you have to cut off all the straps and cut off the ammo pouches from the belt. To do this, I use a pair of cutical(sp?) nippers to cut with and a nail file to smooth out the cutting areas. I also use a dovetail type track saw to cut/smooth the areas in grooves. Here is a few pictures of these first two steps
