My Fantasy XD plane..........

Post by nomo4me » Wed Jun 01, 2005 8:37 pm

Go here:
http://www.luftarchiv.de/

Hit "English Navigation" and then Captured Planes/USA.

See that P38 in German markings? I'd buy two of those bad boys.

We've done this thread before, but what would your Fantasy XD plane be?

Put me down as one who just doesn't get that whole Avenger thing. I've walked around the one in Tucson, AZ and just couldn't fall in lust with it.
Without trying to rain on anyone's parade, what is so appealing about such a clydsdale?
Please enlighten me.

Simple. It's big and it's got a turret.

We all have our favorites, and this topic gets pulled out about every time we are bored. So, what I am about to say isn't all that new, but we need reminded on how cool these planes would be to have someday, nonetheless.

Luftwaffe:
Me-110
Me-163
Fw-190 A Model
Do-335 (double or single seater)
Fokker Dr. 7

IJA/IJN:
Zero
Kate

USSR:
Mig 3
Mig 15

US:
P-39 Air Cobra
F4F Wildcat
F6F Hellcat
P-80 Shooting Star
F-86 Sabre
B-25 Mitchell
B-26 Marauder
A-20 Havoc
P-51 B Model
A-10 Thunderbolt II

RAF & Commonwealth:
Typhoon
Mosquito

Italian:
Macchi 202

French:
Spad

I think that is a near thorough enough listing. I can almost feel some of them in my grubby little mits.

Quixote511 I like your list, and yes, we just need something to discuss here so no harm flailing a bit on a dead horse.

From your list my faves for XD representation would be:

163
P51B
FW190 A series

But I'll buy just about anything ETO. PTO I can take or leave.

skyraider

Post by supersonicfifi » Thu Jun 02, 2005 2:36 pm

a skyraider should be the next step with the navy versions making the korean versions and the AIR FORCES ones making the viet nam era ! plus for us in FRANCE we could do some nice repaints ! we used to have some in the inventory till the 70s in AFRICA ! 8)

supersonic -

I would have thought you would be asking for a Dewointine D520, a Mirage, or a Eurofighter in 1:18 :)

Anyways, good suggestions, and I have to say that 2-seater variants of aircraft make interesting subjects as well.

OF COURSE !

Post by supersonicfifi » Thu Jun 02, 2005 2:52 pm

i m a plane nuts ! and of course i would like to have those FRENCH products (by the way the RAFALE looks much better than the EUROFIGHTER ! and again i prefer the 2 seater !) but i m a marketing educated guy and i know that commercailly a Dewoitine 520 has no chances against a fully armed SKYRAIDER on the shelves ! i think a mirage 2000 could be a nice choice because TAIWANN have some, its pointy nose and it often kick asses in evry exercises ! so it a well known alternative to the F16 -18 and it s small size for the box - good toy and good collector choice

I would love to see:
B-25J Mitchell
F-22 Raptor
F-14A Tomcat
F-4 Phantom (with Blue Angels Repaint)
F-101B Voodoo
A-1H Skyraider (like the one picture above)
A-4E Skyhawk (with Blue Angels Repaint)
F/A-18E Super Hornet

2 seaters

Post by supersonicfifi » Thu Jun 02, 2005 2:55 pm

2 seaters could be a good collector marketing target cause you can develop from the one seater - i ve in mind the MARINES F18D armed to the teeth over bosnia a few years ago.....
