Which 21C 1/32 mold would you like to see updated?

Post by olifant » Tue Feb 05, 2008 9:35 pm

After getting new molds of the ME-109 (I know, different model but a new mold of an existing release) and P-51D, which older 21C 1/32 mold would you like to see replaced/updated?

My vote is for the Thunderbolt. Great plane that still looks good but I hate the way the pilot can't see over the dash. It looks like a granny flying! :D Also, I would love to see if they would release the Razorback and D model like we saw with the Mustang!

I am sure we will see more of this in the future so I am interested where our interest and dollars lie...

I agree. The Panzer IV looks godawful compared to the FoV Mark IVs that I have.

P-40E. With an Aleutian Tigers scheme such as on their 1:48 P-40.

I would also like to see an updated P-40 - particularly as an "E" or "N" model.

In my opinion, I would not rate the current 32x P-40B as the worst 32x plane. The original P-51, ME-109E, and ME-262 are far worse in terms of their sculpting. The current P-40B is simply a down-scaled version of the 1:18 plane. Sure its not perfect, but its not the worst

Their Panzer IV is not half bad..... it is all bad. it really looks cheap next to the new Marder III and even there older Jagdpanther.

Yes an N model would do nicely as well. It is such a beautiful plane but all every company ever puts out are B and C models which I never liked.

I say another Tiger, what are there, a whole count of 3? S1 gray, S2 camo, and the one that came in the Iron Horse pack, was that just a S2 reissue or new paint all together?

S3 was all new paint!

I would like to see a tiger as well.
What I would really love are some new crew figures! Even if they were stand alone sets. A six pack of panzer crewmen, gun crew or tank riders/mounted troops! A couple sets that could sell all the time. US and German. If they are not going to include these small figures anymore I have no idea how much they would be willing to drop on a retool?

Well, my beloved Thunderbolt is getting its @ss kicked. :?

I agree that although another Tiger would be cool they are like rear ends: everyone has one.

T-man, I agree the S1 Mustang is really dated but for me the canopy on the P-40 is molded and connected in a manner which makes it bulge out from the fuselage. For this singular reason it seems to take back row no matter how I display the planes. Due to this I think it is worth re-doing someday.

It is neat to see the varied interest here. It speaks to the recent post asking "what happens when all the tanks/planes have been done." I think we have answered that by saying we would all gladly look forward to and buy existing models done in new molds.

TKO, listen very carefully please...(swinging watch) You are getting very sleepy. New molds must be done at a ratio of 1/2 with new releases. When I snap my fingers you can wake up. :D

Sherman. Because nobody's done one. 21st and FOVs are both badly done. The FOV can be displayed to hide its' hidiousness, the 21st is just a an ugly toy. If you want a tiger go find the 505th tiger from FOV, awesome. I like my P47? The PZIVH is gross but again FOVs late G model is nice.

Obviously I collect differently. I don't buy multiples of any model except to get a quality upgrade. I have a good Tiger so I'm not in that market. Revisit the Sherman AND do a great job on it and I'll spend money on a new Sherman. I'll be buying one of the P-51Ds when I see the right skin to replace the earlier D model I bought online a year ago (blech).

Yes, a new Sherman. Maybe one of these three: M4A1, M4A2 or M4A4? Or all of them...

Tigers :? Why :? First of all, it does say Zimmerit, I got a dollar says 21st will NEVER do zim. Again why another Tiger? I thought of another option not on the list, Get those darn bombs off the 262! EVERYONE agrees Hitler's idea was idiotic, why model it? jeez. I haven't bought a 262 because those racks look molded into the wings. Can they be removed?

Which racks? The bombs come off the original few releases but have large mounting fins they hang on, not really racks. The newest white nose I have they appear to be glued on. The A2A missle racks are molded in and shy of grinding just sit there looking bad. :(

Rememer this was 1/32 release 2 or three right after the Mustang and maybe 109E. Just think how far 21C has come with the FW-190A!

Fins/racks don't come off without a fight. I didn't know the model had the rocket racks on, molded into the wing, huh. Sounds bad. I'll just wait. I've been lucky, I got one of the early P51s and a 109E (Blech!). The next seven were all very nice. I just SO love the 262 I want a good one NOW! WhAAAA
