What we really need in 1 18 Armour/vehicles

Post by General Blasto » Thu Oct 18, 2007 7:10 am

So much I see about what we need in planes since I joined.
German vehicles is really hurting for a decent troop/Ammo and supplies carrying truck. I know we have the Hanomags for troops on the battlefield, but we need some decent Opel Blitz type trucks to carry our troops and supplies TO the battlefield. I'm stuggling with the idea of building three right now, but all I can find as a building platform is a 1940 Ford truck and it's in 1 16th scale :( I'll have to make due with them for now, but it'd sure be nice to see some decent 1 18th German transport trucks made in the future ;) :) The General

An Opel Blitz would be awesome for us collectors! (hint, hint) With that Indianna Jones line coming out real soon the need for that vehichle will be in high demand. Another cool vehicle to make would be that German half-track troop carrier. I can't remember the name of it right now. It's the one that's in the end of The Dirty Dozen. That's my two cents worth right now. :D

I believe they test the waters for new XD releases with the 32x stuff. When you release stuff like a Sherman or a Tiger - these will be cash cows for sure. But I have this feeling that 21st isn't sure which other vehicles they should release in 1/18. I'd love to see a Sd.Kfz 222, a Opel Maultier and a Demag 10 halftrack. But maybe the 32x 222 wasn't a good seller? So they don't want to release a bigger version?
Now they will release the King Tiger and the 88. I think those two will also be very sucessfull. But I've stopped waiting for the 222, Maultier and Demag 10 in 1/18. Maybe 21st thinks those would not be successfull if done in that size.
And again - it is spelled WeHrmacht, guys...

Allied Vehicles

Post by mogdog » Thu Oct 18, 2007 11:41 am

I have to agree on the lack of 1/18th allied vehicles. The M8 Greyhound, M20 scoutcar and a recon jeep or bantam as the cav/recon units refer to them would be a great addition. The cavalry units that the U.S fielded are never represented and played a very important role during the war. Not to mention the fact that if you market it as a cavalry recon peep you do not need to wory about the Jeep copyright garbage. The M24 chaffee light tank which saw service from the Ardennes through the end of the war would be cool and maybe some black tankers from the 761st with a M4A3 75 or 76mm that will add a new customer group and diversity to the collection. What was up with the M41 it was a great looking tank but does not work in any WW2 collection. So come on 21st open up the history books, there are so many cool allied vehicles just waiting to help battle the might of the mechanized panzer troops and help out with sales too.
