What armor do you guys use with the FOV Italian figures?

Post by hotrodrock » Fri Aug 03, 2007 2:21 pm

I have a pretty fair reference library for WWII. I have found quit a few pics of Italian soldiers, but few with armor and infantry in the pics together. Were the Italians used in direct support of any German armor? I like making dioramas with armour and soldiers together but obviously there is no Italian armor made by 21st or FOV.

The Italians had a whole slew of mediocre armor and a few decent pieces but as far as 1:32 is concerned, I'm sure they would have used German armor such as the PZ III.

I wish 21C or someone would do some Italian armor! Japanese, French, and Russian too.

I'd go for a Char B! As for the Japanese tanks, I was reading where the US tankers had to use HE rounds against them as their AP round went in one side and out the other becuase the armor was so crappy!

Italian figs? I haven't ever seen these Italian figs. If anyone finds a pic of them can they please post it? There is no pre-made Italian vehicles out there which is unfortunate. I thikn that nation has a void of vehciles just like the french and Russians. Also the Polish!

i don't know about Italian units being attatched to DAK units but many times Italian units fought beside DAK units and in the battle you would certainly see Italian troops near German armour. There was quite a bit of co-mingling of Italian and German units.

There are lots of Italian armour kits in 1/35, a bit small perhaps but it depends on your comfort zone. :)

1:32 or 1:35, Italian armour is all going to seem small compared to German, American or British armour. Even the Semovente 105s were fairly small. Brave as they were, Italian tankers really got the short end when they fought against the Allies.

I'd certainly love a Semovente to sit next to my StuGs, but then again, I dream about a lot of things.

I have a unbuilt Tamiya 1/35 M13/40, which with minor mods can also be a M14/41 or M15/42 Med. Tank

Also there is a Ab41 armoured car kit and the Sem.75/18 Assault gun from Tamiya

Also for other armour...in 1/35

I know there are L6/40 light tanks and prob CV33/35 tankettes but I don't remember than makers of the kits.
