Tank painting question...

Post by metalwar » Thu May 17, 2007 12:32 pm

I am wanting to repaint a panther tank to resemble the Dragon version of one with the 11th Panzer division in southern France 1944. My question is what color is the barrel in the picture? Is it a brown or just a raw steel color? I can't tell.

From the pic I'd say it looks grey, either steel or similar.

Of course, since 1944 was towards the end of the war you could almost paint it any colour used by the German army as there must have been quite a bit of scrounging going on, especially near the front lines where a damaged tank that takes days to repair could supply "spares" to keep maybe a dozen others moving...
