Dragon issued the below statement on their website:
Dragon has ensured continued production of the famous Tiger I in the form of this latest Dragon Armor release. In fact, this 1/72 scale model features a rather unique Tiger that mixes some distinctive features. It has an Early Production turret, but it also possesses late-style steel wheels. This allows a most interesting Tiger to be acquired by model collectors, something different to the run of the mill. Detail on the tank is precise and accurate, while a three-color camouflage scheme presents a most attractive appearance. This model armored vehicle is also finished with a tasteful degree of weathering. Model collectors will be queuing up to acquire this distinctive new striped Tiger!
Why in the world Dragon would cancel the two "upcoming" Jagdpanthers in favor of their 120th Tiger I, I just do not understand. Furthermore, the camo is almost identical to previous issues. How about a simple grey camo? Come on Dragon!
Another Dragon 1/72 Tiger I on the way
LOL, that pretty much sums it up. The funny thing about this is that anyone could do this themselves. All you do is turn the turret to the 2 oclock position and remove the turret from the hull, then you're free to mix and match hulls and turrets as you see fit since they all fit one another. I've done this with other Dragon Armor tanks to add variety to my collection.
My local hobby shop has loads of Tiger tanks sitting on their shelves and I've seen them not sell on Ebay for just $10.

This new Hybrid Tiger I, 60289 is now available. The description of this tank says it is finished with a "tasteful degree of weathering." Hmm. I looked back at all my Dragon Tigers and I found only two with a "tasteful degree of weathering." 60022 and 60097 both have very nice rust marks. I'm not counting any CH tanks. The new hybrid looks pretty pristine to me. Furthermore the camo is almost exactly like 60021 and one of my CH Tigers. How about a solid gray? O well.

solid panzer grey
Since Dragon is coming out with solid panzer grey Tigers in their newest 1/144 series (20163) I expect we will be seeing some in the Dr-xxxxxs soon enough.
