Question on light artillery used in tanks?

Post by momaw nadon » Sun Jan 02, 2005 2:46 pm

I have some questions on the 20mm KwK 30 gun used in the Panzer II? Mainly how was it loaded? Was it a clip or belt type feed? If so, how many roulds per clip or belt? I know the gun was like the Flak 30 and i believe that was loaded with a clip, but don't know how many rounds. If I had to guess it would be 5 or 6 round per clip. Or would the tank version of the gun be single hand type feed? Any help would be great. Thanks for any help.

One other thing I forgot. Would the gun be more like an anti-aircraft gun MG style of operation or like most tank guns with a breech load? Thanks again.

The rounds were in 10 Round clips(boxes) and there were storage areas in the tank for 18 clips. That makes for 180 rounds total. There were about 2500 rounds of 7.92mm machine gun ammo carried. The 20mm gun could fire as long as the tigger was held, but it was possible to shot one round at a time.
