I finally got a 1/32 109 and noticed that the gunsight was installed upside down. I tried flipping it around, but it doesn't look like it even has room to clear the front of the canopy. Is this a design flaw (does everyone have an upside down gunsight)? Or am I just doing this wrong?
Thanks,
Michael

The origional 32x ME-109E had the upsidedown gunsight and so did some of the later ones. My 32x 109 in the tropical scheme (S2 version) has an upsidedown gunsight while my wasp ME-109 (S5 version) has the sight installed correctly. It is a design flaw, but was universal.

Well, to answer my own question, I was slightly surprised when I was fiddling around with the plane and the top engine cover came off! I just assumed this was just like its 1/18 cousin so I didn't think it would be a separate piece. I can see the gunsight has a small tab, but it should be easy to flip around, if there's room under the canopy. What a nice little discovery...

Is it silly to cannibalize a model for this purpose? I mean, the whole reason I like the 32x planes is that they are pre built, and I can add details to them much more easily than a 1/18 version. I've been tempted to add the little bits like extra pitot tubes and such, but it seems kind of ridiculous to buy another kit just to use the small bits. I could go crazy if I start fixing every little detail...

I guess its up to what ever you want to do
I actually haven't gone that far into customizing my 1:32 or 1:18 aircraft other than a few small details on some, but if my Avenger project is any evidence, one can get carried away! It's one of the fun aspects of this hobby
