New A-10 from Power Force Elite by M&C

Saw a Picture of a 1/18th scale A-10 from Power Force Elite By M&C in the October issue of Toy Fare Magazine. No Kidding Looks pretty good. I just wonder if it will really be 1/18th. They are not know for thier true scale items. Due out in October. Only time will tell!

Hate to burst the bubble on this one, but I believe it is the same A-10 (mold) that was shown at the GI Joe Convention and being sold by Marauder John as his exclusive jet. I think he worked out a deal to acquire some of these molded in blue. The Power Foce Elite version will be gray. It isn't true 1/18 scale. It is a very decent looking mold, but once again, it's not 1/18.

I wish they'd stop advertising things as 1/18 scale if they aren't REALLY 1/18 scale. I think it's safe to say that if it isn't made by Admiral Toys, bbi, or 21st it isn't going to be true 1/18 scale.

Hey Birddog, I know what you mean about it not being true 1/18th though as it takes 1/18th scaled figures they can sell & brand it that way.

Also you look at the amount of variation of Not true 1/18th aircraft too,it surpasses True 1/18th at a fraction of the cost.

Agreed mainly aimed at kids & the Big Kids too

Though you imagine a TRUE 1/18th F/A 18 sitting on the GI JOE USS Flagg Aircraft carrier? Wouldn`t look right,whilst Powerteam F/A-18s look more comfortable.

I like to look at the underscaled as the gap fillers till the True 1/18th versions finally hit the store (if ever).

Oh also yea MJs & PTE A 10 are indeed the same model as Birddog say`s. Though I must admit great to see PTE bringing out some new stuff

A bbi 1/18 F-18 Hornet or F-16 would sink the USS Flagg if it landed on it....

I agree with you though Steelbonnet, the Joe Scale versions are good "gap fillers" till the real 1/18 version is done. Got to have it in true 1/18.....

Of course the USS Flagg would make for a "somewhat" nice 1/18 helicopter assault ship or a good landing deck for a 1/18 Harrier.

Maybe you can be of some help for me, Birddog as I've brought this subject up in the past, but what actually IS true 1:18 scale? 21C has 1:18 on their figures and on their vehicles, but the 1:18 figures just don't fit IN their vehicles-unless you take their legs off or spend a lot of time trying to 'wiggle' them in them, and even then the figures 'butt's can't SIT on the seats, or the steering wheel breaks off, etc. With PTE figures and vehicles, they FIT-no problems-butts on seats-not spending HOURS trying to 'wiggle' them in, don't have to break legs, or break a steering wheel.
So to me, either the 21C figures are NOT 1:18, or is it the 21C vehicles that aren't 1:18?

Answer: both are 1/18.

This has been covered supernumerous times (that means a lot) but bears repeating. On hard plastic action figures, clothing and flesh don't compress and the bodies can't wriggle in and out of cockpits and vehicles the way humans can.

Imagine you had baggy pants that were super duper starched and would not move at all......rock hard. Now try to sit on a chair, get in your car etc. Very difficult if not impossible because now your volume has increased a great deal due to your baggy, stiff clothing. Have you changed scale? or your car? No. You have simply become a plastic action figure.

PTE overcomes this problem by making smaller vehicles like hummers, a bit oversized, especially the interiors and their figures are both way better articulated and (most importantly) skinny (thin legs especially) so they have less volume to them and the vehicles they sit in are a bit oversized, so it's easy to get the figure in and out.

Precision of scale leads to problems but is worth it in my books. For those who don't like the problems there is chap mei, PTE etc.

Have to say ditto Holensock.

But I have to say I like the precision to scale as well. I can accept a loss of detail if it means the project will be done, but not the size.
