I'm painting my bbi sherman 105 and have no idea what the engine should be painted like. I found a few engine pictures, but not many and not very good ones.
What would this engine look like?
What would the typical engine in a sherman look like?
Any pictures, because I have searched and not found very good ones at all?
Thanks,

Not sure if you've already seen this one, but the Walk Around series from Signal are usually pretty good for details like the engine, interior, etc.. They have color pictures or colored drawings.
Shermans, Tigers, etc.. and pretty much all of the "popular" armor each hae thier own walk around book.
If you have a Hobbytown or similar they generally will have these so you can look before you buy and make sure it has the information or picture you're looking for.

Can't tell you what colors the engine should be. But once you start finding photos you will notice that BBI put the wrong engine in the M4A3 105mm Sherman. The A3 refers to Ford powered V8 engine. BBI's looks like a twin GMC diesel that you would find in a M4A2. There weren't any M4A2 105 mm Shermans produced. I hope to find a large model of a V8 to put in mine someday.

more information:
Powerplants for the American tank production effort was always a major problem. A search for alternatives in powerplants being produced in automotive plants led to the development of the 8 cylinder Ford engine. This engine was originally designed for aircraft, was fueled by gasoline, and developed 500 gross horsepower. After testing this engine, it was designated the Ford GAA, and in January of 1942, the Ordnance Committee authorized it's use in Sherman tank production. The "new" Sherman was designated the M4A3. This tank was to serve the U.S. Army for well over a decade.

Don't know if this is too late for you to use but here is a pretty good shot of a museum displayed engine.
