For Spudkopf, My WOLF XD WMIK Landies

Post by steelbonnet » Wed Aug 23, 2006 1:31 am

Hi all,

Well wanted to wait till these bad boys were geared up with kit & weapons though I suppose they are good enough to show at present :D
Though for Spudkopf I`ll show :D

Two of them need a little tidying up still.

Some may recall these from my earlier WIPs sometime ago before this section was started, well finally these are done......Almost.

I present 3 British Army WOLF XD WMIK (Weapons Mounted Installation Kit).

This one is for ScopeUK for His British troops.

Now ScopeUKs & my 2 Wolf XD WMIKs (notice one`s earmarked for the Royal Marines...See snorkle).

Well there you go. I plan on doing a couple more in Sand for Desert Ops & also with the Defender 90 I have,I plan on doing a PATHFINDER WOLF 90.

Here`s some WIPs to rekindle those who recall this project & to those who`ve not seen well here you go :D

Next to my Custom Scimitar CVR-T

So there you go. As for what the base vehicle is,well that`s a Universal Hobbies Land Rover Defender 110 (1 pick up & 2 StationWagons).
I remove all the cabin gear & seating.
Then made the roof/gun ring & then to support the roof I made the WMIK struts.
You`ll notice the Front Commander/passenger Weapon mount that spins 360 degrees for a GPMG.

Well As said I`ve got to tidy my two up & then add kit & weapons & fully crew though well here`s the MoD issued WOLF XD WMIK.

So Please LMK what you guys think :D

Oh Spudkopf FYI I`m actually working on a SASR 6 wheeler Defender with a team of SASR too. Photos will be coming soon when I`m further along with it :D

G'day steelbonnet

Great project and thanks for the reference shots.

I too like the Aussie six wheelers which were adapted from the ambulance version to become one extra mean looking LRRP vehicle:

http://www.defence.gov.au/fotoweb/Previ ... 99E5B9A09C.

Sadly as they are almost exclusively used by the SAS good reference shots up on the web are scarce.

I have seen the Defenders that you are using for the basis of your project on eBay, but they all appear to be located in Germany and very expensive, especially after you add frieght to Oz. I will have to ring around and check with one the three local die-cast car shops near me to see if they have these in yet.

Did I understand correctly in that a 110 utility version as well as the station wagon are available?

I have also been thinking about getting one of the older 2003 Discovery’s available in 1/18th and bunging some UN or maybe TV markings on the doors to use for scenery, as you always see these things in the background.

Thanks again for the special treatment.
SPUD

Hey mate,

Well what with those keen eyes of the teaser shots of the Landies I had to honour you for that :D

I think I may have a couple of shots of the 6 wheeler ambulance version on disk,if I do I`ll post in a pm to you if you`d like them?
I`ve managed to find however a fair few of the SASR version as that is more photographed.
Also if i can get some scans done,I have photos of the Ambulance version in some books & mags too I could sort out for you?

As for my 3 Glad you like them & i realised not all may know of the WOLF XD WMIK so some ref photos would be appropriate.

As for the actual diecasts, well I got all mine really cheap as you get them occassionally sold on ebay with broken doors. Which for me were perfect. I paid £30 inc shipping for SEVEN Defenders at one time, not a BAD deal eh :D

As for types I have 1 x Defender 90 station wagon type,3-4 x Defender 110 Station Wagons & a few Defender 110 Pick Up versions.

Now you know where I get the spare seating for my German Sidecar combo from :D

The weight issue for shipping is going to be the awkward part but as said with broken doors they come up on ebay (UK) fairly regularly.

May even be worth while checking in your country some of the stores if they have damaged Defenders that they would sell cheaper?

I hope that helps mate.

I like the idea of the Discovery getting reworked into UN or TV types.
May copy that idea ;)

I`ve thought about redoing some Range Rovers for British SAS CRW purposes.

HAHAHA Well that would be one way.

I was thinking moreso where they have the steel plating on the bonnet & frames to hold & the points the ladders can be attached too.
Though I do believe Black is certainly the "IN" Colour ..... LOL

Hey Ja as you know i REALLY like the landies and really cant wait for mine to arrive :D

with the WIP pics you can see just how much work you have had to put into these.

I think that there is a real need for some british vehicles from the main companies. But now i will be getting one of these it will fill a real whole in the collection :D

like i said Ja great work and cant wait to see it in person :D

Lance thank`s very much mate :D

ScopeUK,
Yea I know how happy you are with this Landie mate :D That`s always sweet to hear :D Makes it all worth while :D

I certainly do hear you too concerning the manufacturers to Churn something out at 1/18th Modern British vehicle/armour :D
I`ve now had to make my own Scimitar Tank & these WMIKs. Got the Spartan in the works too. We need someone to make it easier for me......LOL Plus also means I can buy multi`s too if they were manufactured.
