1/18th-ish Bachem Natter

Post by aferguson » Sat May 06, 2006 8:19 am

I bought a Bachem Natter desktop model last month and just got it today. It's a bit small, between 1/20 and 1/21 depending on which source you go by for the dimensions.

The most often quoted dimension is 20 feet in length but that is from scaling the one at the Smithsonian, which is not original. It's a copy that George Lucas commissioned to be made and is reportedly, overscale. I have seen quotes for as little as 16.5 feet length for the Natter, so it's a bit of a discrepancy.

It's a very neat little model though, looks much nicer than in its picture. Something nice and unique to add to the xd collection. I've added a link below, if anyone is interested. Comes with swastikas on the tail and a very attractive mottled paint scheme

Apparently there was a squadron of 10 Natters operational in April of '45 and ready to go into combat. The only thing that prevented it was no allied bombers came within range before the war ended...
