1/18 UH-1H Huey Full Build or Kit Poll

Post by The_Helicopter_Pilot » Sun Jun 09, 2024 3:14 pm

I've been lurking for awhile, but haven't posted in some time, but I've come back with something I'm sure several people here want, because I sure know I do, but it's a little expensive to make, with 3D resin printing come so far, I can finally make all the stuff I've ever wanted in 18th scale, starting with the UH-1H, so I've come here to see who all would be interested here in having one of these models?

I will be printing these as kits, but will also have fully built options for those who aren't as good at building kits as some, pricing will very roughly between $800-$1000, I know that may seem high, but these are made fully out of resin, and I'm working with my team to make the best model/s I can, I'll make this post a poll to see how much interest there is on this forum, and we'll move forward from there!

In the poll, please select Yes, or No, and Kit, or Ready to Display.

Sense I last frequented this forum I don't know how may years ago, I've built up a now full-time commission building business out of my home, I invite you all to come scroll through my still work in progress website, there you can find more contact information, and see some of my work!

You might find there aren't as many people looking and posting here as in years past. Facebook groups have taken over. You may get very little response. A full build of a resin 3D printed kit would be challenging. Wondering if there could be a conversion kit for the UH-1 1/18 model kit already out there? I think it's by Hobby Boss and is basically an unassembled 21st Century model.

I would be interested in a kit or conversion based off the Hobby Boss kit. A full airframe kit has potential for a lot more accuracy and detail though, the old Huey molds are pretty spartan. My biggest worry with a full resin kit would be parts warping and sagging. In my experience, resin printing doesn’t do all that well at larger sizes.

Ok, I've let some time pass to see how this would turn out, and unfortunately it's as predicted.
However, if there's still interest, I can be contacted directly here, or on Facebook, here's a link to my model groups.
