1/32 WWI New Ray Aircraft Review

Hi all,

I posted about 4 months ago about a 1/32 Fokker DVII that I bought at an airshow that I thought was really cool. After a few months I was able to locate the other three and bought them.

They offer a SPAD VII, Sopwith Camel, Fokker Dr.I, and the Fokker DVII. These come in a "kit" form and require minor assembly. You need to trap the cockpit, sometimes the guns, the rudder, stabilizer, and the engine cowl. There's also pins that are inserted into the fuselage to keep the halves together. They have anywhere from 8-12 screws that are used to assemble the wings to the struts and the landing gear, and 3-4 pins.

I really like these. It's nice to have these in 1/32 scale. They take about 15-20 minutes to assemble and come with a screwdriver (not the drink). Although, after assembling the Dr.I, I could've used a drink. This one is the most complexed to put together - or is it just more time comsuming?

They do not include pilot figures but you could probably use any extra 32X German tank crewman - remember the officer with the watch/compass that we used to joke about?

I found them at Bad Cat but they were out. I went through Military Toy Shop and got them for about $8.99 each. Very nice airplanes and worth the price of admission.

I was looking for nuray at Toy fair and didnt see them.

I ended up with some US tank men, that were supplied with the 21st Shermans or some of the older releases like the M5 or M18, that have the appearance of wearing a leather flight helmet. I had been using them in my North Korean T34/85 repaints, but I bet they would work good for these planes. I tried the website mentioned above but have not had any luck seeing the planes...

Was looking at their 1/32 WW2 model airplane kits. They look just like the ones I got for my daughter at the dollar store for $1.00 a piece. They looked good on the out side but there is no detail under the wings.

Hmmm, I've never seen any of their 1/32 WWII aircraft kits. Just WWI 1/32. I have a couple of the 1/48 airplanes that have the stands that make the props work. I have a white Zeke and a green/dark green ME-109.

What planes do they make in 1/32???

These aren't a detailed as the 32X planes. Where the screws go into the struts from the botton of the wings you can see the screw. The cockpits are detailed but all black. I cannot remember the wingspan but I'm going to guess and say that the Camel's is 9-10".

I only found the 1/48 WWII, helicoptors, and the WWI airplanes.

Im sorry, Its under tou airplane kits under nuray and they are 1/48 not 1/32, Mybad

Shame on you. You got me all excited about those planes. I know that New Ray makes a 1/48 Corsair and that's what I went looking for but in 1/32.

Thanks ok, my eyes are getting bad too. The instruction sheet to assemble the WWI planes is about 5" x 4" and all four of them are on there - I used a magnifying glass to read it. A lower case a looks like a lower case b on there. I needs glasses I suppose.

I have all four on the way. It will give my Armies in Plastic guys something to shoot at instead of each other. Thanks for the lead.

I solved the pilot problem by butchering three FOV pilots so that they would fit into the seats. They look really good sitting in there. The Sopwith will be a bit more tricky since the hole for the cockpit is small and under the top wing. these are neat model/toys and with a bit of painting and weathering, they will fit right in with my other WW1 stuff...
