New 21c Corsair & Stuka Repaints at Wal Mart!

Post by tmanthegreat » Thu Jan 26, 2006 11:20 pm

This should probably go in the Wal Mart Finds & Discussion thread, but I figured I'd make a scene. I went into a Wal Mart in Fresno, Ca. on my way home from work this evening go into the toy aisle expecting to find nothing and low and behold there are two each of the XD "Bunker Hill" Corsairs and Tropical Cammo Stukas!! I kind of flipped out as this was totaly unexpected - especially in the store in my AO that is usually the XD wildcard. I picked up the Stuka, as it was my favorite of the two.

Both planes look excellent. The Corsair is quite pretty and has all the warning labels. The exhaust pipes on the underside were unpainted, though. Other than that, its just the basic XD Corsair.

The Stuka looked awesome - the tropical cammo was very well done with no overspray. It is one of the better Stuka paintschems and makes a far cry of my S1 Stuka (which I still like, though.) The Stuka is a deal at the $40 Wal Mart price.

I'll post pictures of the Stuka that I got as soon as my camera battery finishes charging. I think the SKU# (according to the number next to the word "Airplane" on my reciept) is 063874810129.

The new repaints are here!!

Here's the pictures! I only got the Stuka, as I have enough Corsairs already. Sorry for the slightly blurry picture of the boxed plane, I didn't use the flash to avoid getting the glare from the box & obscuring the plane. The back of the box has a detailed history of the JU-87 development & use, as well as pictures of the "Ridge Runner" P-51D, Silver F-104, Atlantic TBM Avenger, & "Seeman" BF-109G6. Enjoy!

I was probably going to pass on those two because I didn't want to pay shipping, but if I see them at WM I'll probably pick them up. Go look in the WM finds thread for another surprise from my recon tonight!

EXCELLENT recon Tman!

There you go - an awesome plane that small retailers want more for, and you have to wait and pay shipping. It goes to show that outside of exclusives "pre-order" is almost always not worth it.

Other lessons: so much for 21C being "discontinued" at WM, and so much for us being all knowing about what lies ahead. 8)

Stuka looks sweet; I want to see the White Corsair. It sucks you can't get the Zero without ordering online. :? I would love to see bbi get into a big retail store and put out more product like 21C but I'm not holding my breath.

I was gonna pre-order the Corsair but I'm gonna pass because I to have enough of them. BUT should one pop up at a Wallymart in my area then I might get one. Right now though I'm gonna wait for the Avenger and nothing else. But thanks for the heads up tman!

passing

Post by eddie372 » Fri Jan 27, 2006 8:49 pm

Sweet bird, but with such enormeous wingspan, I'm gonna pass this time around. I'm saving that space for one or two of my Avengers. I'm also not happy about this model having the same two crewmen as the other Stukas.

Hope you enjoy your Stukas guys.

With their jackets being white, one could paint a tan or camo over the white make the pilot/gunner blend with the plane.

Any takers???
Anybody out there good with paint and brush??

I have'nt tried my hand with an airbrush,...but I'm not bad with just a brush though,....I dunno' about the camo,...but one could easily paint their flight jackets,..a lighter shade of leather,..tan !
