So, I was considering crossing over into some 1/35...

I was looking at some of the kits available, and I know we've discussed the idea of mixing 1/32 and 1/35 here several times already, but I had a notion.

I normally fall in the "no mixing" camp since the size differential is sorely apparent when same vehicle/different scale are side-by-side.

But what about odd items that your average visitor might not recognize and have no 21C or FOV counterpart?

I have been watching some kits of SPG's based off the Hotchkiss H39 chassis, as well as an RSO/3 and an SdKfz 265 Panzerbefehlswagen. All would be about 1/2 inch too short by 1/32 standards, but as the only frame of reference for size would be crew figures - which I could leave out - I think they could pass reasonably well and thus add depth to a collection. And not simply by adding multiples of a piece you already have like hanomag variants.

Most of the folk who visit and see my planes don't see a difference between an ME-109E or a 109G. I doubt they'd know the overall length of my 10.5cm K18 howitzer is less than an inch too short of what it needs to be for 1/32. It just remains a question of me being able to stand knowing they don't really match.

.......... you could get by w/ it but I wouldn't display them right next to a 1/32 one , ie... side by side as their would be a noticeable difference. Somebody but not everybody that don't even collect or build models could detect a slight difference I'd presume.

I have some of my 1/35 can.do winter figures with the figures of the 1/32 halftrack from FOV and there is a noticeable difference. Not a lot, but still, 1/35 looks unnatural next to 1/32.

If you figure a 1/32 guy as about 5'9", then a 1/35 guy is a bit small at 5'3" or so.

It would work if the 1/35 guys were Asian, so you could mix Japanese troops and vehicles.

EXCITING SUBJECT! Sorry boys, I have to get in on this one!

First off, look at the size differences between the 1:32 FOV. & 21st Cent. JAGD TIGERS? How about the difference between the FOV. and 21st. OPEL Trucks? BIG difference! Pretty much, enough to say is the difference between 1:32 & 1:35. All makes of 1:32 figures vary depending on the maker.
SO.......If your going to MIX your 1:32 & 1:35 buy 1:35 scale KITS that you have NOTHING to compare them too.

YES, I agree. Go "BIG" and you will never tell the difference. I have that kit also, Trumpeter, is my favorite! BIG kits, well designed, good detail and GREAT SUBJECTS! NO ONE can touch DRAGONS 1:35 Figure kits though.

I just picked up half a dozen Can-Do 1/35 German infantry figures at a Tuesday Morning store. They were only $1.99 so I couldn't resist and they are so much better detail than 21C or FOV 1/32. They are very much smaller. Before this, the only ones I bought were kneeling, crouching or sitting and looked O.K. The difference isn't glaring. It's the upright ones I just got that look like dwarfs next to 1/32 figs. Does it show up as bad with 1/32 vehicles without mixing 1/32 figures? Anyone been successful in this?

Was that jagdpanzer E-100 a real tank, or was it a paper panzer. It looks cool.

i think as long as the person who owns the collection is happy, it doesn't matter what scales you mix and match. It's up to each individual to be their own judge and jury and make decisions they're happy with.

And i think there are many examples where 1/35 and 1/32 could be mixed....especially with larger 1/35 subjects like railway guns, landing craft, boats etc. And so what if it's out a little bit? Building collections is more about recreating history and having fun than having every rivet in place, unless that's what's most important to you. Use a bit of imagination like you did when you wre a kid.

I figure in Heaven, everything will be perfect...for now, this will do.

I guess some variation is better than the stiff 1/6 scale G.I. Joe types with every one having nearly identical size and body types. Only the heads seem to change. Can't help but think "clones" or "dolls" when I see them.

Well..............did you go for any of the above suggestions? This week I'm buying the Brit. VOSPER 1/35 T.P. boat and I ordered the 1:32 B-25 Mitchell Bomber. Two BIG kit's, some epic builds!
