1/32nd modding question

Post by NapalmKnight4149 » Fri Nov 18, 2011 9:43 pm

Hi guys, I had a question about modding in 1/32nd. I had an idea to use a p-39 Airacobra and mod it with a p-51 and create a fictional plane, That would make it like what the A-10 is today as a dedicated tank buster/ground support aircraft. Now I know the p-39 was used in this role, but I want it to look like it was modified to give it more performance to make up for its short-comings if the war lasted longer then 1945. Essentially what I want to do is to replace the wings and tail section with that of the p-51, which would make it a standard "tail dragger" design. So now the main question is, would this be better to go with this in 1/32 with Forces of Valor type models or to buy a p-39 and p-51 plastic model in 1/48th scale and try it that way? Which way do you guys think will would be easier?

DON"T CUT UP THE FOV MODELS YET!

If something goes wrong, thats some good money down the drain. Get some cheap plastic versions, like those from New Ray, and work out all of your cuts before you move onto the 1/32 planes.

Also, wasn't the P-47 the American's dedicated tank buster?

Yeah, I havent ordered anything yet, and I figured that 1/48 would be the way to go if I mess up I'm only out $20, I really want to do it in 1/32 but can't wrap my head around the fact that most of these places on the web sell the plastic kits for about the same price as say a FOV model, while I can get a 1/48th for like $20.

And yes I do believe that the P-47 was the dedicated plane for it. But I wanna do a true dedicated "What if" tank buster, like i said before it would be like what the A-10 is today. As we all know the P-47 was also used for bomber escort missions, etc... But you don't see the A-10 getting into dogfights besides in video games.
