Removing BBI 1/32 Dauntless wings

Post by nooker21 » Sat Feb 26, 2011 1:50 pm

Has anyone done this safely? This reminds me of removing stuka wings - they seem pretty solid in there and I'm afraid of snapping the tabs when I pull on them.

Oh, and as a warning to others, I wouldn't try and remove the smaller underwing bomb hardpoints. I tried to pull them out and both sides snapped at the pegs. Easy glue fix, but still, very annoying...

NOOKER21:

Ironically, I was thinking about removing the wings on my BBI Dauntless a few days ago. Mine may be headed back to the box for storage to make way for newer models, and I already have another 1/32 Dauntless from Hobby Master----but I remember how extremely hard it was to put insert the wings, so I'm worried about removing them.

Yeah, after probing around and looking at boxed pics to remind myself of how the tabs are situated, I decided that I better not tempt fate with it, especially after the little bombs tabs broke under the smallest of pressure. That BBI plastic doesn't seem to be very forgiving at that scale. I've also got a cracked stabilizer on my Wildcat, and it's not like these things are being played with....
