1/18 Vehicle Interiors

Post by Threetoughtrucks » Thu Dec 16, 2010 7:57 am

Which tanks in 1/18 have detailed interiors?

I was just looking at my 21C M-41 and the interior is super. Just wondering what other tanks had interior we just never see?

The Tiger is also detailed inside, correct?

Any others?

I'm being a little liberal with my definition of "armor" and "tanks" to include all 1:18 vehicles with some sort of interior as opposed to just a hatch you stick a figure in

21c Tiger I (this is the best)
M-41 (second best)
M-113 APC (third best)
M-2 Bradley (21c version)
M-3 Bradley (FOV version)
LAV-25
SDK-251 Hanomag & variants (Stuka zu Fuss Pioneerpanzerwagen, Pak-40)
M-3 Halftrack & variants (M-16, including the FOV version)

I may be stretching it with these vehicles, but they did have interior details...

Humvee command vehicle & variants (both 21c, FOV, and PTE)
Willy's Jeep
Kubelwagen
M151 Mutt & variants
WC-51
WC-57 command car
WC-63
DVP
Various PTE patrol vehicles

I won't even get into the Force of Valor 1:16 diecast King Tiger, Tiger I, and Sherman. Those have full interiors beyond anything 21c has ever offered and are in a class all their own...

Just for the record, 1:18 armored vehicles without interiors include the following:

M-4 Sherman (all types: 21c, BBI, FOV)
Panther
Panzer IV & RC variants
FOV Tiger I
M-48
RC M-113
M1 Abrams (all types: BBI, FOV, PTE)
Type 98 Tank (PTE)
Chinese APC (PTE)

So, I was correct. The only 1/18 tanks we have interiors for, are the M-41 and the Tiger.

That is a shame.

I wasn't including the Bradley and M-113 because, it's a given we have some kind of interior in a troop carrier and that goes with any open topped vehicle.

Too bad.

And yet FOV did not think that was a given with their LAV-25! Crazy!

don't know about the Bulldog but the Tiger's interior is not very accurate. It is a good place to start if one wants to do it themselves, however and much better than nothing. It seems doing interiors was too costly so 21c cut it out.
