Added Articulation to BBI & XD figures...........

Post by steelbonnet » Thu Jul 28, 2005 12:12 pm

Hi all,

Well here`s some simple addition to do to those figures you just wish gave more in posablility.

XD Humvee Driver/Green Beret

I`ve added Shoulder PTE Desert & PTE waist & Legs, thus as you can see truely superb firing position & a hell of a lot more posable.

BBI Super Humvee Driver.

With BBI already addressing articulation,l still wanted more,so l added the inner Joe ball section & hey Vio la a super posable Super Humvee driver.

BBI Buggy Driver.

Added PTE Arms & legs to the BBI Torso & thus again a simple & effective way to give more articulation.

I'm really not taking advantage of the PTE guys I have lying around.
How hard was it to put their arms/legs onto the 21st guy? How hard was it to break those guys up? Any glue along the way or just elbow grease? Thanks!

Gluing l found wasn`t called for really.

It`s more down to a bit of dremelling & hot water to help ease in pieces & break the figures apart.

Once you`ve taken a PTE figure apart & also BBI/XD,you`ll see better what needs trimming or not.

As for the BBI Super Humvee Driver, yes he did need gluing (the inner Joe thigh ballparts into the dremeled out upper leg).

As said once you have them apart it`s easier to assess what`s needed were really. Though the sticking PTE onto XD & BBI is the simpler approach over all. rather than the pah chosen for the BBI Super Humvee driver.Though he does look good for his added articulation too ;)

Great job!!! Hopefully the people at bbi and 21C will see this thread and get the idea of just doing this themselves!!! Congrats again on a great job!

Really nice!

i also have played around with the PTE bodies and the heads of other figures...PTE is really good in articulation and price. Plus they offer a lot of different items not offered by any of the other brands.

keep them coming!

Thank`s for the kind words guys :D

I too would like to see XD & BBI take this simple approach to giving there already great figures much needed articulation.

75th ranger,
PTE is one of the best lines out there I think, due to there figures, vehicles & acc`s that No-ONE else touches upon.
Highly prized & vastly underrated I think. Though that`s great that so many don`t like them as that`s more for us to buy :D

Great work SB!!!!! I have been complaining for years that there is not one stock military 1/18th figure on the market that has total articulation right out of the box...I have a few new projects in progress that just need painting,, a squad of Vietnam troops and a few WWII paras all hybrids from BBI, GI joe, XD, and Dragon 1/18th...pics soon...tomd

Well l am looking forward to your new stuff mate.I`m always impressed with your take as it`s similar (in both wanting Real Military Articulated figures & vehicles at 1/18th).

I have a few projects of my own once l`ve finished my Modern Brit unit.
