No Avenger or P51 at WOH

Post by nooker21 » Sat Jun 25, 2005 8:18 pm

I was a little disappointed in this year's show as well. I drove up there expecting to see some nice new products, and maybe get some news on upcoming items, but other than two F104s, there was nothing to report. What bothered me was the fact that 21C was waiting until comic con to reveal the new P-51. Excuse me, but you are a sponsor of a show, and you don't give us anything to salivate over? You're waiting for a comic show that many military hobby people could care less about? What gives? I remember going to the 21C convention years ago when they first announced XD, and they sold me on all the new items they had coming out. This time around, I didn't feel that there was much of an effort to get fans excited about the line, and they missed a good opportunity at the right venue to get some buzz going over the new planes coming out. Instead, we get the same old vague news and promises...I sure hope this P-51 is worth it... :x

What and when

Does anyone remember what was the last 21C 1:18 aircraft to be given a general release? When did this happen?

Well, let's hope that something pops up today. You never can tell, sometimes. I'm just suprised that the goods weren't out on the table Saturday. :(

I dont feel bad for not going now. I guess we'll just have to wait to hear the buzz around the net.

Figures

Post by digger » Sun Jun 26, 2005 8:33 am

For me the bbi figures on card is big news. :D Figures are essential in my opinion and a pillar of 1:18 scale. I'm starting to convince myself that when you remove the harness the part of the vest showing goes too :) . If that comes off they are some of the best 1:18 scale WWII guys I've ever seen....if somebody goes today can you ask? :?

i agree. It's time for both BBI and 21c to get moving. They're going to lose lots of collectors to other scales soon if they don't. They'll keep the die hards (i've been putting up with endless delays for 4 1/2 years now) but we're in the minority and too small in numbers to provide sufficient sales.

What's been causing this big lag i don't know; whether it was Star Wars toys, a glut of old product on the market or 21st and BBI feeling each other out. But whatever the case, the time for action is now.

Aferg - ashamed they don't have Tuesday Morning stores in your neck of the woods, as they just had a great sale on Corgi 1/43, 1/50, 1/72, and 1/144 scaled military diecast pieces, a perfect time for you to make the jump

Seriously though, as Aferg mentioned, patience is a must have when it comes to collecting 1:18 as we've been prodded and teased time and time again, and with no fulfillment so to speak. I really have gone head over heals with the smaller scale stuff as of late, simply because theres nothing new in the 18th scale arena. I suspect alot of folks are doing the same, and thats $$$$ that could have gone to 1:18.

I'm pretty much of the mindset, when it's available, it's available...and untill then, Dragon, Corgi and FOV will be keeping me busy. :-)
