An interesting behind the scenes of Peter Jackson's model company. There 1/32(?) Gotha G.IV and upcoming ground crew/air crew is impressive, and might be my first WWI plane I buy and build in 10+ years.

In the early 2000s, while completing the Lord Of The Rings movie trilogy that would catapault him to Hollywood fame, Oscar glory and a Knighthood, New Zealand film director Sir Peter Jackson quietly embarked on realizing a private passion- to create a new line of accurate, highly detailed large scale World War 1 aircraft models.
New Zealanders already knew Peter Jackson as a man with a lifelong personal fascination with World War One, and especially the aircraft of the Great War. Wingnut Wings announced this interest to the world.
Sir Peter, in exclusive comments for HyperScale, says he has never lost his lifelong interest in model making.
“I’ve made WW1 models since I was a kid, and if I can’t build them due to work pressure, I still buy and collect unbuilt kits. Wingnut Wings is really a dream company for someone like me, who is lucky enough to take their hobby to another level.”
What Sir Peter Jackson was able to do- thanks to the success of making blockbuster movies – was realize every modeller’s dream- to start his own model making company.

Great report PanzerM...my hope is that with Sir Peter's upcoming Dambusters remake, they put out a 1/32 Lancaster...= )
The sign of a great model is that one’s eye is not drawn to any one feature, yet one can study it for hours and continually find something new.

Yeah, they're already doing that huge WWI twin engine.
Like the article said that most of WWII has been covered by model companies, but not the bombers in 1:32.
A 1:32 Lancaster would be awesome.

Great story.Thanks Panzer_M.
Not really up on my WWI plastic models, but I know that in diecast 1/48 seems to be the scale of choice.
I think 1/32 is a much better scale for these small fighters.
But I haven't built a kit in 20 years.
Anyway,wish this company well.

Wingnut Wings has kindly provided Preview CAD images of forthcoming releases, including the debut image at the top of the page of the Pfalz DXII interior sub assembly and the newly announced Rumpler below.

Wingnut is def building quite a nice gaggle of stringbags.
I find the Rumpler def interesting..still even at 1/32 the rigging has to be a bit of pain.
