Received my English subtitled copy of "Katyn" earlier this week, I've only had time to watch about half of the movie but so far I am very impressed and moved by it. Being something of an aficionado of Russian and East European cinema, I had been anxiously awaiting this film, and it does not disappoint, I think it very accurately portrays one of the most horrifying and turbulent periods in human history. I am well acquainted with some of Wajda's previous works, but this is perhaps his best so far, and it's in color...

To me, the historical implications of this movie are invaluable, given the magnitude of the crime, (an estimated 22,000 murdered POW's) and the unwillingness of the Russians, even to this day, to fully accept responsibility and accountability. I highly recommend this film for WWII fans and history buffs. BTW, for those of you that have a Netflix account, this title is now available.
