For those interested, finally a Ford 3-ton truck has hit the market that resembles the one used by the German military in WWII.

Highway 61 offers a 1/16 scale '40 Ford 3 ton split window that is just begging for a repaint.
Yes, the Germans did use the split window variety, I have seen many pictures of them in action. (I used to own 2 of these Fords for reenacting purposes, and did a LOT of research on them).
Don't know how many they will sell at nearly $90 a pop, but for someone wanting something a little more accurate then those Indy trucks, here is a perfect item for modification.

EBay currently has a 1/16 flat bed '40 Ford for $70 and a '41 Chevy military Firetruck for $46. The Ford can be fixed up and the Firetruck can be used as is and 1/18 figs look good with them.
Any year Ford made in WW2 would do as the Ford truck body didn't change bodies from 1940 up to 1945, if I am not mistaken.
9th Waffen....... Any pics you can show us of the "German" Fords you used to have you can share with us? I've seen pics of your Fords but I'm sure this board would like to see them.

Hey guys, thanks for the kind words, really!
Best shot for pics of my 2 41' Fords that I used to own half of each would be at my old unit's site, in both the motor pool section and the event pics section to see them in action:

The Ford 3 ton was the 2nd most produced and used truck in the German military in WWII, accounting for nearly 1/6 or 17% of all trucks used.
When watching WWII documentaries and such, I always keep an eye out for them. I have seen them in German, US, British, American, Russian, and Japanese service! It is amazing how often they turn up.
A cool conversion would be a Maultier.

My first 1/1 antique vehicle was a 1945 Ford F5 1 1/2 ton six wheel truck that was a beaut and a ball to drive around, making supermarket runs etc. I always figured it was the spitting image of a German truck. (Ford didn't change truck bodies from 1940 through 1945 due to the war).

Bought it for $1,100 in great shape, sold it years later not running for $2,500 to a guy that showed up with a mechanic, got the truck running and drove it ti CT. Never heard from him so I assume he made it.
A side story, when I sold it, I was asking $2,500 for the truck, the guys show up and the mechanic worked five hours to get the truck running and the guy says to me "Now, let's talk price". I says "$2,500". The guy starts dickering with what was wrong with the price, and I say "The price is $2,500, if you don't want to pay it, thanks for coming and by the way, thanks for getting the truck running, you can just leaving it running when you leave" and I turn to go back into my house. Greatest moment in vehicle buying/selling negotiations in my life..... I knew I had him cold. Of course the guy calls me back and whips out a stack of 100's to choke a horse. Just a great day.
