German tank Numbering and lettering
Hey does anyone know of a website that has examples of the colors and different numbers and letters put on the sides on german tanks in world war 2? I am in the process of printing my own decals but cant find tank numbers or letters for the life of me, ex. R02, 112, etc.

Just putting this up as general info.
R= Regiment Stabs(staff
001-002 Abt.Stabs(staff)
1XX is first Kompanie
as 2 would be second
X1X is first Zug(Platoon) of 5 Tanks as according to To&E. Sometimes less depending on real world situation...also StuG Zugs/Batteries only had 3 guns...but that another discussion
XX1 is the Panzer of the Platoon.
as for color or style..solid, outlined, stencil..that was pretty much just the choice at hand in the field..Tanks were numbered at unit level, same time they were camo'd or if factory camo'd when the unit received them

Now the Panzergrenadiers and Aufkl Abt get a bit more tricky with 4 digit tact. numbers.
Like my current builds for a Normandy Dio I am working on.
9.Panzer Aufkl. Abteilung..circa Aug 6. 1944 somewhere west of Alencon, on the Domfort-Maynee-Montsors Line.
I have a PzKpfw.II ausf. L "4121" < red numbers, tech 1.Kp(all Luchs were in 1.Kp/9.PzAA) and a Sdkfz.250/1 "312" < White Stencil 3.Kp,1.Zug,2.HT of the Panzer Recon Kompanie..which would transport 1/2 a squad of infantrie(4 men plus crew of the 250)
but the "4" in 121 I can't really figure out, as it 1.kp had 26 Luch...2 stab and 4 platoons of 6 vehicles. Note: the Luchs was not considered a Tank in OOBs but a Scout car, so they were noted under PanzerSpahwagens and Not Panzers.
like I said I haven't had time to look into it, I've been going back and forth with Tom Cockle via Emails/Photos on various bits like the question of a rear vent on the thing..something he claims didn't exist, with photo proof, and something I say might as a field mod with photos..and like Bovington's Luchs as they added one..really for such a small panzer the Luchs can be a big pain when it comes to the fact and fiction.
