Thoughts on nightfighter 109?

Post by flayrah » Fri Apr 24, 2009 8:28 pm

With the concerns about 21st, I'm considering buying some models I passed on before. Is the all -black Me109 something historically accurate enough to pick up? I know at the time there was discussion about whether or not this existed, or saw action, or if the paint and details were even correctly represented by 21st. Wondering if my money might be better spent on a different aircraft.

Just interested for my own collection, not for any possible future value (although it wouldn't hurt if it did increase in value....:)

I remember seeing the black 109 in one of my books . It was an artist's rendition not a pic of actual plane.

It is still cool to have.

They never made it down here. But during Katrina we went out to Tallhassee FL. and they had them on sale for $20 . I picked up a few of them. I wish I had gotten them all. Just like the Hueys ,M-113s , Shermans , Fw-190s , Tiger tanks and Spitfires.

If there is one thing that I have learnd about collecting 1/18 XD. If you can afford it .GET IT.

If not you will be sorry and hate yourself everyday.

OK maybe not but I wished that I would have gotten while the gittin' was good.

Yes, it is pretty accurate. If you check my Profile album below, you will find the profile and some original photos of the plane.

It is a totally accurate scheme. The 21c plane itself is a repaint of their S1 ME-109. If you don't already have one, it is a dated sculpt from back in the first days of XD. The canopy is not accurate and the wings are a bit fat. There are also exposed screw holes on the undersides of the wing.
