Mini Champs Kubelwagen?

Post by Fritzkrieg » Sun Mar 22, 2009 9:43 pm

I was debating picking up one of these but they are a little pricey. I was wondering how they stand up, quality wise to the XD Kubel. Are these as nice as the Gate Jeeps? IF anyone has some comparison pics, I'd love to see them.

I don't have the 21stC Kubel at the moment to do comparison shots, but the Mini champs really blows away the 21stC version.

It is an awesome vehicle.

Having seen one at a local hobby store I can say there there is no comparison
Its like comparing a DANBURY MINT Jeep to a 21c Jeep

I only have the 21c one and, man, was I disappointed.

It's miniscule, can barely fit Indy figures, let alone 21st Century figures.

The one driver figure they included with it is about 2/3 the size of other 21c figures. Oh, and his legs broke off the second I tried adjusting them. Thanks, 21st Century!

It's virtually useless for the 21c line.

the Mini Champs Kubelwagen will be a tight fit for the 21st figures as well.
Colonel "Madman" Maddox: Let me hear your guns!
Captain Wild Bill Kelso: My what?

Captain Wild Bill Kelso: [fires his airplane's guns] AHHHH!

The Minichamps Kubel is superb,,,, metal construction, tires feels like rubber tires, very realistic folded top and wheels turn with the steering wheel.

21C Kubel has plastic wheels and a horrible folded top. 21C has a MG 42 mounted which Minichamps does not.

I do like the Minichamps.

The Gate Jeep is another beautiful piece. I just can't believe the super low prices the Gate Jeeps went for. I just another Gate, this one with nice Laurel and Hardy figs (movie stars were in a parade of Jeeps to sell bonds in WW2). I had bought a dozen Gate Jeeps for $5 apiece a few years ago and sold them all for $12 to $20 each. Still a bargain with the quality.... I just can't believe the metal construction, front wheels turn with the steering wheels, just what 21C would have been if the 21C had not made been made as a toy.

I'll post pics later if nobody does first...... got some pesky real life to do first. 8)

* I found out that the Indiana Jones figures fit the best. ... I know because the grey Großdeutchland Minichamps Kübel , was one I bought back from Kevin "toyktdlgh" , had two of these figures sitting in it quite comfortably. 8)

I want one of these so bad. From what I can tell they are super detailed.
I want to set it next to my Diecast 1:16 Danbury Mint WWII Jeep.

I don't particularly like the Desert camo version with the tan w/ green spots.
I really like the grey one however.
Wish they painted them like MG-42's they would be even better. Either one

Worth it, indeed (especially the grey one, which is harder to find nowadays). Great custom kubels, BTW. 8)
