Enthusiast Elefant and Duece and a half
I finally took possession of the FOV Enthusiast Elefant and 2 1/2 ton truck. I previously had purchased the Action grade at Target. I'm always happy to have more vehicles but I really don't think it was worth the wait or the extra expense. The weathering on the truck and even the Elefant is not very impressive. Granted you get more 'diorama' pieces but again for the the additional price...... Earlier releases of the Enthusiast armor was significantly better weathered. There really was a noticable difference between the Enthusiast and Action grades. Now there's not much of a difference at all. What I paid for the 3 Enthusiast vehicles, 1 Elefant and 2 trucks, I could have purchased nearly 5 Action grade vehicles and weathered them myself. Oh well.....

Yeah, I'm not sure I like some of the weathering I'm seeing.
For the price, I see nothing wrong with the Action Series.
I have the Stuart & Lee tanks, and a Deuce & 1/2, and I like them all clean.
Looks like the vehicles you see unloading off the Liberty Ships documentary footage, or rows of factory fresh painted vehicles all lined up for export. Cool IMO.
I need to get the Sherman and Halftrack now.

There is no weathering on the Action Series, if that's what you meant. At least you have the option of adding it. Can't easily take it off thoughAMERICAN_GRENADIER wrote:I havent seen an action grade up close but the weathering isnt up to enthusiast standards as far as im concerned. but i usually do more myself anyway

I've seen some weathering that I like. The Duece 1/2 is not to bad, it just looks like it went down a dusty road.
So...I'm wondering, since Target quit carrying the Action Series, and instead opted for the cheapo Bravo Series plastic, does this mean that the clean versions might actually be harder to find now?
I can find the Enthusiast Series all day long on the internets, but I don't see any Action Series.
One of the quirks of mass retail me thinks.
Damn, I do wish I had that cat though.

Thanks keteloneketelone wrote:You get the cat, barbed wire, a crate with 2 bottles in it, 2 jerry cans, a horsre that would be used to block a road ('construction horse'), and an FOV card providing data about the vehicle. No personnel.

I had forgotten about K-Mart and TRU.
Maybe because I never go into Kmart, and my TRU never has anything.
I wonder if the remaining ones at Target.com are Action or Enthusiast?
I wish the prices there were like on the shelf prices, but they are quite a bit higher.
A couple of weeks ago I bought six of the FOV soldier diorama packs on clearance at Target for somewhere around $2 a piece.
I know the construction horse, jerry cans and all kinds of stuff are in there. I'm sure similar to the extras in the Enthusiast Series if not the same stuff.
Maybe that darn cat might be in one.

TRU and Target have Action grade. I have only seen Enthusiast grade at hobby shops and online venders. For a while some Enthusiast grade vehicles were in Action grade prices for Action prices. You'll know it's an Enthusiast if inside the box there's not only weathering but also the 'collector' card. Previously I purchased the forest camo Abrams, Operation Iraqi Freedom Bradley, Schwimwagon, amphibious jeep, all of which were Enthusiast grade vehicles in Action boxes.

That's the trouble with Target online. They only show you the model, no box. Sometimes it's hard to tell if there's weathering.
For the price they want you'd think it was Enthusiast.

Thanks.

No Stug, never saw the Elefant there. Believe me I looked when they were blowing them out at the retail Targets. I did manage to find a couple at the store when they had them.
I keep eyeballing that German Halftrack with Flak gun, but at $49 and it's not even an Enthusiast Series? I don't think so.
Maybe if they had a sale.
