King Tiger-it was worth a shot

Post by NHoggard12 » Fri Jul 04, 2008 9:52 am

I tried painting the FOV king tiger like that seen during the battle of the bulge fighting. Most tigers did not have zimmeret though. Any pointers would be great. The yellow probably needs to be alittle lighter, but I did find pictures of tigers during this battle with the darker yellow.

thanks

If possible, you may want to remove the ambush dots on your King Tiger. Zimmerit production has already ceased when the ambush camo was introduced. That's why no photographic evidence of a zimmerited German tank painted in ambush camo exist.

The s.pz.abt. 506th, who also fought in the Bulge, had King Tigers with zimmerit coating. So if you want accuracy, you may want to depict a tank in that unit. :)

But other than that, you did a really good job on your repaint. :)

I decided not to go with historical accuracy, even though I would like to. Removing the dots and everything would be too dificult.
