Curtis P-40N Warhawk & Vought F4U-1A Corsair from this morning over Chino, California. Both are combat veterans.
The P-40 was part of the west coast patrols agains Japanese Weather Balloons and is credited for shooting down one such balloon during WW2. She flew, slightly modified into an earlier P-40 version, for the Disney movie 'Pearl Harbor.'
The Corsair's history is a bit sketchy as the logs for it have major gaps, but it's an earlier model Corsair, and the range of serial numbers that this Corsair was a part of served with the REAL Pappy Boyington 'Black Sheep' squadron and Ira Kepford's squadron. It's unsure which one of the two squadrons she was in. She was based on a carrier for a time near the end of the war. Ironically, she was used extensively in the 'Baa Baa Black Sheep' TV show.
