ZINC CROMATE ?

Post by pickelhaube » Sat Jan 19, 2008 9:54 am

Hey guys,
I am almost ready to shoot some pics of my Ki-61 Hien. It is really ugly now because I am in the sand and fill stage. I have looked at all of my books on the Tony that I have and the cockpit looks like a orangy green zinc comate. Defantly not like American dark green and light green. There is a guy on e-bay that has a beauty in 1/32 for sale. I e-mailed him and he used model masters . I have the Hasagawa 1/32 and they use Gunze sand beige #119 it looks kind of like DAK sand. Any opionoins on this? Has anybody seen a real Tony up close?

Hey Spike-hat

Ther is a Ki-61 being restored and copied by Murray Griffith's Precision Aerospace, Wangaratta, Victoria, Australia.

It may be a little bit of a long shot, but you could try and drop them an email, I believe their address is murranna@cnl.com.au and maybe they can give you an answer.

Maybe you need to get yourself a copy of Japanese Aircraft Interiors 1940-1945:

Looking forward to seeing the results of all those hours!

How are the Curtis Hawk 75 and the A7V comming along or should I not ask

Don't ask. :? I started the Tony before the hurricane. I am trying to do a New Year's resolution and trying to finish stuff I started. If I would have skiped the Tony I would have finished the Mohawk by now. When I finish the Tony it will be either the A7V or the P-36 next. :D
