I am sure that this has been discussed to death when it first came out, but since it is new to me I wanted to share my impression of the AT 262.
I usually like to see something in person before I throw down my hard earned cash, but I wanted to get one of these just to support the company; Jason is a welcome presence here and I can only imagine how hard it is to break into business like they have. The $27 BCA sale gave me the incentive to order last weekend.
My first impression was astonishment at the simple but effective packaging. I was surprised at my relief I was not to spending 30 minutes doing surgery to get something out of the box. I think the BBI F/A-18 was the worst. Way to go Admiral! I will save this box because it would be such a snap to put this thing back in if the need arises.
The paint, detail and functionality of the flaps/leading edge slats is remarkable. This is an improvement over all the old BBI and 21C 1/18 AC I have. I love the fact that the throttle controls look ready to firewall. The tire tread looks damn good. I have no idea if it is historically correct but even if it is not I don't care. Also impressive is the tautness of the antennae wire. These are all small things but tell me that AT is committed to the tiny details that make these planes "come to life."
There are always the naysayers who want to pick apart every offering they get for small errors and this bird is not perfect. It does have some small glue smears and paint flaws, but hey, it's a toy I bought for $40 shipped. The only real detraction is that the figure is not up to the quality of ATs competitors. I really don't mind but despite my next efforts I can't get Nowotny into the cockpit with the canopy closed. Any ideas out there? I really don't want to file his @ss away!
Jason and Admiral Toys, job well done. Keep them coming please. I very eagerly await your Father's Spad and have a place cleared for it.

I have had one for over a year now sitting on my desk. It is a great looking model. This is actually my second one. My first one was destroyed when my brother ran over it with his pickup truck. I had it out on the driveway to take some pictures of it. I went in the house and they I heard the sound of plastic cracking. The plane was only out of the box a few hours.

I whole heartedly agree on the quality of the Admiral ME-262! I was able to see a 21c ME-262 "Yellow 7" in person at my local Hobbytown USA store today. While the 21c plane has lots of neat features and a killer paintscheme, it really wasn't all that much different than the AT ME-262. Sort of like comparing the 21c and BBI P-51s... Admiral Toys actually did a far better job with the sculpting of the fuselage between the cockpit and the tail. There are no oversized hinges on the canopy and no gaps in the plastic. The 21c plane has that awful seam where the extended cockpit will be on the nightfighter variant that really detracts from the smooth looke of the aircraft. Admiral toys didn't do that, and even included a wire antenna. Many kudos
