Custom 1:18 P-51D Mustang 'Jezabelle'

Post by pokeyjtc » Mon Dec 03, 2007 1:40 am

Here's my latest custom P-51D, 'Jezabelle' Its painted in the colors of the 356th Fighter group. This particular aircraft is fictional, and I did it for my fiance, Jessica. I figured that since I've already done 8 customs, it was time to do one for her. She picked the squadron colors, designed the nose art lettering, and picked out the Elvgren pin up girl. Take a look at the pics and let me know what you think.

Wow! Very nice pokeyjtc. As always you do very nice work. How long did it take you to do this plane?

Thanks for the positive comments guys. It took a little over a week to finish the plane. I've done enough now that I know how to avoid some of the mistakes I made on the first few.

Once again, nice job, pokeyjtc!

If you're willing to share, I'll bet many of us would be interested in hearing your tricks on how you prep the plane for customization, particularly the mistakes you made early and how you avoid them now.

Do you remove the existing markings or paint over them? If you do remove them, do you also remove the base coat?

Thanks,
