Why is the coolest stuff always east of the Rockies :? All I've got around here are Graff 109s, which don't sell.

Well, the scout meeting is over and I put the Ridge Runner together. It is certainly "smoother" than the BBI killer, but it is still a close comparison to those of us not considered rivet counters. The BCA preorder info says their picture shows a "prototype" paint scheme and will come with a different prop; I don't see those differences. The landing gear, cockpit, fusilage lines all do look very good, but this "early" offering has some features that are too tight and some too loose. This ambiguous ambiguity is probably more due to having several P-51s, not any real shortcomings with this new one. Overall, I think I just need something totally, physically new like an avenger or F-86. Good luck with finding them at your local Walmart or with the preorders. THIS IS A POSITIVE OPINION OVERALL...

could be- but I just wanted to see what it felt like to pontificate like a lawyer or politician in front of a mass audience- there is a certain thrill to it, ya know.

Tell me about it. The W-Ms in California are bleak regarding new planes.

Maybe we'll get lucky, though, and be the first to get the Avengers before they are distributed NATIONWIDE.

Walmart in Morrow, GA put out the second box of humvees and ammo trucks - still two humvees on the shelf. The Humvees are not a big seller - just sitting around. Also - they like to mess with me - they placed all the planes - that are not selling, 109's and 104's, away from the customer and way up on the top shelf - makes no sense. Anyway - i thought to myself...."cool new planes..." "drats they just moved the old stuff around.....should I buy a sweet tea or unsweet ....vacation is in two weeks ... oh wow hanging files for $2.99......"

Kagnew, to alleviate your frustration, repeat after me-- there are no ridge runners out yet, there are no ridge runners out yet, etc... only a couple of more months on your preorder!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! remember, there were three more on the shelf.

The two WalMarts near here, Tulalip Indian Res (Marysville) and Mount Vernon Store had bunches of 1:18 ME-109G-6's and 1:32 Me-109E-4 (Wasp Squadron); P47D Bubbletop (61st Fighter Squadron Capt Witold Lanowski; and P-51D Mustang (Ridge Runner III).

I found the S1 F-104, Sky Captain P-40, and Sahl & Hackl ME-109Gs in a Fresno, California Wal Mart today. This is the same sort of caseload that appeared in the east late last November! The F-104 box was trashed, but the others looked fine. Given this distribution trend, we westerners may see the new P-51s as early as May :?

I agree with immeww2 that the Avengers had better show up in the west first! We need that sort of preference, given that all other recent releases of new 1:18 planes at Wal Mart (save for the tropical Stuka and BH Corsair) arrived on that end of the country first. Besides, 21c headquarters are located here 8)

Depends on your area... Wal-Mart's distribution is a mess, at best.

I collect Star Wars figs so I hit a lot of Wal-Mart's in the Pittsburgh area so let me give you my view on how messed up their distribution habits are from my own experiences out this direction...

-1 WM has a couple (2 or 3) S1 Marines... That's it. They never update, they never get new XD figures. They've had these Marines since last year and they just won't sell or order new ones. It's a high traffic Wal-Mart SC, but they don't get many XD figs or Star Wars... Weird place.

-Another WM 15 minutes from this one was the first (and only place for a long time) to get any new figures. They got Marines, and since then they subsequently have ONLY gotten Marines. They had S1, then S2 Camo ones, then they got more S1, then more S2... Then they got in 4 Sahara figures to spice up the look of the pegs a little bit and that's it. Right now they're crammed with Marines except the riflemen and the guy holding the Japanese flag who is drying up since he's not being distributed with the flag anymore.

-My nearest WM is 20 minutes away, it's a smaller one... It got Marines in droves leading into Christmas. Dozens, and they have almost all sold now. I'd say they have 12 at best, but they've not gotten new figures in that I have seen. Lots of Marines (S1 mostly, and one time they seemed to get a case of S2, but those have sold all but one). That's been mostly it...

-A WM that's near my girlfriend's place that I wouldn't go to if it weren't for being down at her house so often didn't get a SINGLE XD figure in till just this past week. Then they got at least 2 cases of Marines, a couple cases of Battle of the Bulge Series 1, Patton's, Pilots... It's the most diverse sighting of XD I've seen at any store. I've cleared them out of most of the Bulge figures but this place didn't have a single XD figure till last week then the flood gates opened at it thankfully. :)

-My girlfriend's place just got a mall built literally 3 minutes from her house, and the last day of January a WM Super Center opened up. They have been the only WM that I visit in the Pittsburgh area that has had the Japanese and Operation Market Garden figures. I went in for the first time to the store and they had S1 Japs and OMG, so I grabbed stuff for lay-away... They got cleared out between then and the 2nd time I visited this store. They went without figures for most of February then but when I went there just last night they had S2 Japanese (in the more tan/mustard colored uniforms) and more Market Garden Para's... I got more, of course, because I have a problem not buying this stuff.

And a WM I don't hit often at all because it's closer the cityhad a lone BotB German at it months ago, but that was it and I don't get there often.

So that's a number of WM's in my area, and really not one of them are similar. It's insane how this stuff's distributed. Most vehicles are the same as well though I Saw RC tanks (both of them) at almost every Wal-Mart leading into Christmas, I saw helicopters (and still do) of all types at every WM I visit, and more recently I have seen that the new Humvee's and Weapons Carrier Dodge are at probably half (if not more) the WM's I visit routinely.

Right now not a lot of planes are around except a Nightfighter that hasn't moved for months at one WM and the obligatory P-47's I see everywhere that can't seem to make it to the runway.

Tempest66:

The Japanese figures are hit or miss from my experience (in contrast to the S1 Marines, which seem to be in nearly every WM). I did pick up the S2 Japanese in Troy MI a few weeks ago when I was there.
