Best of the Best in W.W.2 planes to me is the 21st Corsair and BBI Corsair with wings extended permanantly at the proper angle. They really got it right. The only big complaint is the bicycle like tires, just too narrow. The landing gear isn't perfect but not real obvious like the 190D or the other molded leg to gear cover units. Our Museum is currently restoring an FG-1D Corsair so I get to see it inside and out. The shape and thickness of the wing is right. We have our 1/18 models hanging with gear up at the Museum and the 21st Corsair is the best looking, period.

You are with the Tri-state Warbird Museum in Batavia, Ohio?
Here is a link to their restoration on the Corsair:

Are you working on the P-40M that had the crash landing at the beginning of December?

I've been a volunteer since they opened six years ago. We work on displays and are tour guides for guests on Saturdays. We help move the planes around and keep them clean but only the paid A&P types actually work on the planes. The P-40M will fly again. The engine literally blew up on a test flight. The five mile dead-stick to the field was testimonial to the skill of the pilot, our Museum President, who made the runway hot and ran off the end after initiating a ground loop but the right main folded and the plane continued through the fence. Engine, prop and wings are toast. Fuselage and tail feathers unscathed.

I agree that the 1:18 Corsairs are good. In my opinion, the BBI Corsair is the better of the two toolings. They got the cockpit accurate, wings, & fuselage shape & didn't over-rivet the surfaces. It also has more moving parts and the ordinance.

I think I have to update my original choice for aircraft at least.

BBI Dauntless tops my aircraft list now. F-86 and Mig-15 are still great, but there are some good BBI contenders as well like the Corsair, Bf-109G2, and the Zero. A lot of the other items I noted for myself at least stay pretty much the same.
